This morning I installed update 2019.2 on a Windows 10 workstation.
Now my copy design from Vault does not work.
Can anyone else reproduce this or, possibly know the solution?
For now I just uninstalled that update, and it works as normal.

Anybody know if installing 2019.3 over 2019.2 works without the need to re-do all the regestry and file copying needed to get Copy Design working in 2019.2?
I have to aggree with gnr10 that I expected the next update to include a fix for the Copy Design problem.
We still have one m/c on 2019.1 as it is such a pain doing the changes manually.
Hi! 2019.3 includes every prior updates and new fixes. It should install over 2019.2 or any prior update.
Many thanks!
You are correct that this 'should" have been fixed but it wasn't in Inventor 2019.3; the real fix most likely needs to come in the form of a patch for vault not just Inventor.
So if you had issues with Copy Design with 2019.2 then the same workarounds will need to be applied with 2019.3 too.
Sorry I don't have better news.
Chris
Thanks Chris.
What I have found most efficient when this issue seemingly randomly occurs is to:
-Close Vault
-Open Inventor Viewer
-Re-Open Vault
Seems to work every time.
It is frustrating to open Vault, browse to what I want to copy, find the issue is active, close Vault & start over, but it is what it is.
I really hate to resurrect this post.... but... I am going too.
I am trying on one system to go from 2019.1 inventor to 2019.3 without installing 2019.2 first. Reason being is I am just trying to test and gather set steps (that will work) in order to update some of our systems for testing. I have walked through and done all the steps indicated in our previous posts. Even the ones I have personally confirmed worked when 2019.2 came out. But copy design is failing miserably and after trying everything I can't get it to work. Windows 7, Inventor 2019.3, vault 2019.1.1, I did the adp core.dll fix, reg hack, and copied additional files as well as reboot, run as admin (inventor, vault, and inventor view), etc... more than once. This was yesterday. Was hoping today it would magically fix it! Wasn't so lucky. Running Vault Basic. This nasty message that seems to haunt us has been the one showing up again.
I checked the value of the current version in the registry to make sure it was pointed to 2019 inventor and it was.
The only thing I can think of is on this machine is I did not update to 2019.2, I went from 2019.1 to 2019.3. The machine I initially tested this work around on I went from 2019.1, to 2019.2 (did the patch fix) then updated to 2019.3. Do you think that could be my issue? Is there some other registry setting or something I can check to make sure the system forces to re-register? I never did get that message and before doing all of this I was working in 2018 for a while. So it very well could be that, I just don't know how to check any more than checking the current version path stored in the registry and the fact when I open up files through windows explorer it does open up in inventor 2019 (not my normal practice). Everything I think I could check in terms of re-registering it seems to all be pointing to 2019. But I could be missing something. Open to any more ideas. Thanks.
I am sorry... it was my mistake. work around seems to have worked even skipping from 2019.1 to 2019.3. For some reason it won't let me delete my previous post. I was testing it on another machine and I think I just copied the 11 files to the wrong location.
opening inventor viewer first also works for me. Annoying but effective.
Hi! I am sorry I am confused. You mean now Inventor fails to open now? Have you installed 2019.3 update? Do you see any error message when you start up Inventor?
Many thanks!

Hi all,
Please try below steps which solve the copy design issue in one of the reproduced environment.
- Close Vault and Inventor application
- Launch InventorView.exe from Inventor\Bin folder as an Administrator
- File > Projects > This will show “Register..” dialog.
- Choose “yes”
Please let me know if it still doesn't solve your case.
Thanks,
Rachel
After reading 4 pages of possible solutions that did not work, this one was the first that worked for me!
Well, that solution only worked once! Tried to do the same todat but no luck this time.....
I hope fixing this has top priority at Autodesk.
Hi, @guido_66 ,
Could you please try deleting the following files from .\Autodesk Vault Basic 2019\Explorer folder and let us know if that works?
"acio.dll" OR "AcIOLite.dll" OR "xerces-ad-c_3.dll" OR "DwgService.dll" OR "fbp.dll" OR "rse.dll" OR "RxInventorImpl.impl" OR "utx.dll" OR "utxshared.dll" OR "WinSupport.dll" OR "AcIdViewObj.dbx" OR "adp_core-6_1.dll"

Madhan
So when was it that 2019.2 messed up copy design?
Really poor from Autodesk that this is still an issue.
Solidworks looks more attractive as each week goes by!

Hi @andy-axium ,
We apologise for the inconvenience. We were unable to reproduce this consistently in our internal systems and hence the delay in finding the root cause. We are working on this with the highest priority to have it resolved.
Please contact our product support in case if you have any further questions. We would be glad to assist you.

It did not work until I added this file:

A few remote sessions were hosted with @eric.roades & these workarounds addressed Copy Design & View in Window not working:
- Run regedit
- Create a Registry Key called HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\Inventor View
- Under that, create a String value called Location
- Set the value of Location to be the path to where the InventorView.exe resides on disk. Eg: Location=C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2019\Bin\
Copy these 11 files from the ...\Autodesk\Inventor 2019\Bin folder to ..\Autodesk\Vault...\Explorer folder :
Please ensure to backup the entire Explorer folder prior to doing the file copy.
- Launch InventorView.exe as Administrator.
- Launch Vault Basic 2019 as Administrator.
- Copy Design should now work.
The following was needed to get "View In Window" to work:
- Launch Inventor.exe as an Admin which prompted to Choose “Yes” for re-registration, (may be followed by usual subscription login or other licensing messages).
Once the re-registration is completed, View in Window should work.
Could others with this issue please try these workarounds & report back here ?
Thanks,
Chris
I have been using these work arounds on multiple computers within our department (windows 7), even a bran new pc just received (windows 10).
Making sure the following is done:
Installing 2019.3 Inventor service pack
Installing 2019.1.1 Vault Client service pack (we are running vault basic)
Importing registry option (as noted)
Copying 11 files as instructed. Along with the "adp_core-6_1.dll" file fix (so total of 12 files)
You need both of these fixes or it won't work if you are trying to run 2019.2 inventor or higher.
Launch inventor and launch vault. Test vault to see if copy design window will pop up by initializing the copy design function. If it shows up generally you are good to go. once in a while I will have to launch inventor view 2019. Keep in mind I am an admin on my machine so that might make a difference if you are not.
Hope this helps.
