Hi! One more issue with dimensioning.

Hi!

One more issue with dimensioning.

I use the following tutorial

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFWAy_wnoZc

At 41:45 sketch 16 is fully constrained

In my case having the same dimensions one more dimension is still required.

constrained --still need one more.jpg

I tried to use auto constraining.

it shows that this dimension is required.

with one more.jpg

I am confused, because the author doesn't use it .

The file is attached.

.

Thank you in advance!

:))

Missing Tangent Constraints.

It is always preferable to use appropriate Geometry Constraints over dimensions when possible.

I recommend that you forget you ever saw the Autodimension/Constraint tool.

When something shows as underconstrained - start dragging endpoints.

You should see obvious visual indication of missing constraint.

As you gain experience - Inventor will add nearly all of these constraints for you as you are sketching - so it isn't extra work.

if you watch closely he get the arc to be tangent to the outside projected line before creating the arc. then tangents it to the already existing arc.
