Help with Lofts

I have a basic understanding of how to do lofts, but I now need to do something a bit more complex, and it isn't just 'working' how I want first time.

I want to model in a conveyor belt that is transitioning from the troughed profile you see on the left to the overlapping cylindrical profile on the left.

Is anyone able to help with getting this to work?

It would be preferable to see what result you wanted to get and, if possible, attach the original file.

If I understood the problem correctly, you want something like this?

Then

1. I recommend adding a small gap at the top of the spiral;

2. It is necessary to manually add the desired correspondence of points on the sections.

I suggest you create these kind of more complex lofts in surface mode to avoid tool failings.
Also the sketches will be easier.
After you get the surface, you just have to apply Thicken tool to add solid to the surface.
