Failure to add Add-Ins

Hello,

I have recently installed Thread-modeler and Vault Client in my computer but they do not show up in the Inventor. Please help me in figuring out how to,

1. Add Vault extension to the Inventor application.

2. add thread modeler Add-in.

I'm not sure if these errors are related but my App manager in Inventor fail to load in the application, and throws an error " Unexpected error when loading dialog".

I appreciate your help! 072201.PNG

Hi! What release of Inventor are you on? Have you applied the updates? I suspect this might be due to lack of certain shared components to support later Win10 builds. Please install the latest Inventor updates applicable to your release.

Many thanks!

Hello Johnson,

Following your advice,I have updated all my Autodesk applications to 2021 versions and currently, I'm able to access Vault in my Inventor. Thank you for the suggestion.

However, I'm still not able to load the Threadmodeler Add In. It does not show up in the Add-In Manager and I continue to receive the same "Unexpected error when loading Dialogue" error from the app manager.

Please advice.

Thank you

Hi! The add-in does not officially support Inventor 2021. Please take a look at the discussion comments on the page.

https://apps.autodesk.com/INVNTOR/en/Detail/Index?id=2540506896683021779&appLang=en&os=Win64

"As others have said, to get it to work with 2021 simply navigate to this file:  open c:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\coolOrange_threadModeler.bundle\Contents\coolOrange.ThreadModeler.Inventor.addin and edit <SupportedSoftwareVersionLessThan> (you can use notepad) and change the line <SupportedSoftwareVersionGreaterThan>21..</SupportedSoftwareVersionGreaterThan>

  <SupportedSoftwareVersionLessThan>26..</SupportedSoftwareVersionLessThan>

Restart the program and itll load in!"

Many thanks!

Thank you of pointing that out Johnson and I apologize for overlooking the comments sections.

I tried to follow the instructions but I do not have the Threadmodeler folder in the add ins folder although the application is installed in my computer. Am I doing something wrong? Please help.

Hi! Please look at the path closely . It is not in C:\Program Files\. It is under C:\ProgramData\. Simply copy and paste the path to File Explorer.

Many thanks!

Hi! The Add-In may be hidden. Right-click on the Add-In Manager dialog -> Show Hidden Add-Ins. Or, Vault client was not installed.

Many thanks!

Here is the reply that I received from coolOrange today:

Unfortunately threadModeler is not compatible with Inventor 2021.

I am sorry to inform you that we have decided to not further develop this app meaning we will not release a version that is compatible with Inventor 2021.

We have published the source code for threadModeler on GitHub, this allows users to download it and make the app compatible with Inventor 2021 themselves.

Hi! Or, you can change the support version to make it work on Inventor 2021 (see reply #4).

Many thanks!
