Change projected line colour - drawing sketch

bengee5454

A simple one (hopefully). When working on a drawing, if I want to project the edges of a model in a sketch, the lines are a yellow colour.

This is not very helpful as the background is off-white which makes the lines very hard to see!

How can i change the colour of projected lines?

Hi Folks,

I just checked the latest status of INVGEN-54411. Unfortunately, it remains unresolved as of 2022.2 update. The project team ran out of time resolving it for 2022.2 update. Currently, it is targeting 2022.3 update.

Many thanks!

Hi! I just checked the status for the defect INVGEN-54411. It remains unresolved unfortunately. Based on the internal discussion, the change in behavior is related to Dark Theme support. It was an intended change. In order to support the old style, some additional work is required (reported as a story INVGEN-58688).

At this moment, I don't think it will be resolved soon. I am very sorry.

Many thanks!

Bump?

Still not working?

Has anyone tested this in 2023 yet, or do we have to wait another year?

Hi Reg,

Indeed, there isn't a meaningful status update to share. It was indeed a change to support Dark Theme.

Many thanks!

Thanks for that.

Please can they fix it, I am making the assumption that it does not work in 2023 either? If so, please can they patch it in the 0.1 patch.

I sketch lines in almost every single drawing, and almost on a daily basis, I am still not used to it. It's a horrible confusing colour scheme.

Thanks

Hi Reg,

I am very sorry that the issue has not been resolved. I will double-check with the project team and see if this could be something to change more easily. I cannot promise a solution.

Many thanks!

Thank you

I look forward to the fix.

I will continue to bug you on a regular basis, because it needs to be fixed. (I will not wait for hot fixes and service pack releases anymore)

I installed 2023 with the same issue. Any chance of getting this resolved any time soon?

Hi! I just checked the latest status of INVGEN-58688. It remains unresolved unfortunately. It is unclear to me when it will be resolved. Based on the discussion, it is not as trivial as a defect fix, because the original change leading to the change in behavior was intended to support Dark theme. There isn't an easy solution to support Dark theme and also preserves the legacy behavior.

Many thanks!

The struggle is real, I pains me every day I use it.

I even switched to the the dark theme to see what the issue is, and there is no change. The switch did nothing, the sketch lines are still the same colour as the visible lines, black, so you cannot distinguish the sketch line from the part lines.

I can even tolerate the projected yellow and unconstrained purple, but the constrained black line, just disappears and become what appears to be a part edge.

Every now and again you can see the hint of the correct lines, highlighting a sketch, or sometimes just as you exit the sketch, the lines will turn blue, just for a split second, somewhere deep down the software it is trying to do the right thing.

Hi! I just checked the status of INVGEN-58688. The current target resolution date is for a future release, not on 2023. It is because it involves change in current design. It may not be compatible with existing releases unfortunately.

Many thanks!

Hi,

The issue is still not resolved with version 2023.2.

However, by doing some tests, I managed to find a way to correct this problem. There seems to be a confusion between the UI theme and the color scheme. You must modify the Light color scheme and regardless of the color scheme chosen, the modification will still be effective.

Hello,

Can confirm this works, what a great find.

Fingers crossed this is an easy fix for the Autodesk team now.

Hi Folks,

The issue, INVGEN-58688 is not resolved on 2023.2. Nor did I claim it was resolved there. The current behavior is indeed related to supporting the Dark theme. When the theme is used, the ability to change the projected line color is somewhat suppressed. If one of other themes was chosen, the offending behavior will not be reproduced.

This is why it may require an additional option to override the current behavior. The latest status of INVGEN-58688 shows that it has been resolved on an internal build targeting the future release. Usually it means it will not be fixed in one of the update to current releases unfortunately.

Many thanks!
