I am trying to build an adaptive extension spring with closed loop ends. Building the adaptive spring part was easy but for some reason my closed loop ends break when I stretch the spring. I have been toiling with this problem for over and hour now with no success. When I created the closed loops I used a 3D sketch to Project to Surface my 2D sketch onto an arched plane which builds the helical curve, then using Sweep to create the wire. When the break occurs I can re-enter the Sweep and show it the correct path which fixes it, but as soon as the spring extends it breaks again. I know the problem must be the Project to Surface function because of the path it follows when it breaks, I have tried additional constraints, I even tried making the ExtrusionSrf adaptive but with no luck.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
