Maya 2017 complications

Hi,

I've been having issues with Maya 2017. I installed it about two weeks ago and it worked fine. A new Microsoft update was released (version 1703) which I installed about three days ago. After installing the update, Maya 2017 won't even start up again. I updated my graphics driver, uninstalled and reinstalled Maya, nothing changed.

I tried installing Maya 2016. That worked fine with no issues.

System Specs:

ASUS ROG GL752VW

16GB RAM

1TB HDD

Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M

Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU

Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit Operating System

Why is Maya 2017 not starting up? Really need help guys

Windows 10 forced updates is one of the worse Microsoft policies to be implemented.  This is why I run my own WSUS server on my enterprise, so that I can eliminate the threat of forced updates from Microsoft.  I simply do not approve of the update, so it never gets sent to the client machines on my domain.

Being that you are likely a normal user and not a Network Administrator, there are some things you can try though.

In this link provided, there are some steps you can take to turn off the Automatic Updates from Windows 10.  You might consider doing this so that your software doesn't break every time this happens.

You should see if you can do a system restore to a restore point back to before the update and then apply the steps provided.

Good luck!

Hello @Anonymous,

The Windows 10 “Creators Update” released last week seems to be preventing some people from launching Max and Maya.

In one case a uninstall and reinstall of Visual C++ Runtime Libraries, as outlined in this link helped.

Updating to latest supported Visual ++ redistributable files is another recommendation.

Then theres rolling back the update by going to your Control Panel. This update was taken out of Beta not so long ago.
