Autodesk Community Rules and Etiquette

By participating in the Autodesk Community Sites (AREA, Autodesk Community Blogs, Conversations, Forums, Gallery, Group Network, Ideas, Tips), you are agreeing to Autodesk Participant Guidelines, Autodesk Website Terms of Use, the Autodesk Code of Conduct, the Autodesk Privacy Statement, and any other terms included on autodesk.com (collectively, “Autodesk Terms”). Please make sure to review these terms thoroughly before participating in Autodesk online communities and programs.

While interacting with the Community, please keep in mind the Community rules, with the goal of making this a positive, helpful and welcoming space for everyone. Autodesk reserves the right to remove posts that do not meet the standards of the Autodesk Terms.

Keep it clean and constructive

  1. No profanity, obscenity, insulting or bigoted comments. No name-calling or personal attacks.
  2. Do not threaten, stalk, insult, victimize or intimidate anyone or any group of people for any reason; including on the basis of age, gender, disability, ethnicity, culture and language, sexual orientation, race, religion or the degree of Autodesk product knowledge. We have a zero-tolerance policy on personal attacks and offensive comments.
  3. Do not harass, insult, tease, or correct other users about the grammar used in their posts.
  4. Report any kind of abuse you find in the community. You will find a “Report” button in every post.

Keep the community flowing

  1. Search to see if a question you’d like answered has already been posted by somebody else.
  2. Do not post the same topic more than once or in more than one board.
  3. Do not divert or change a thread for your own purposes; start a new thread with the subject you want to discuss.
  4. Address your answers to the person you are responding to. Use @mentions and quotebacks to help keep topics tidy.
  5. Negative feedback is welcome but keep it constructive.
  6. Do not attempt to manipulate the community, forums, or other community features, including ranking and reputation systems.
  7. Keep your signature to a minimum – no more than three lines.
  8. Cite the source of anything you post or upload if it isn’t your own original content, including AI-generated materials, make sure to credit the source and/or AI tool.
  9. Do not post comments advocating or encouraging piracy.
  10. Do not link to websites that require payment to access information.
  11. Do not intentionally post or spread viruses, worms, malware, or other software intended to harm another user’s computer.
  12. Do not invade anyone’s privacy by attempting to harvest, collect, store, or publish private or personally identifiable information, such as passwords, account information, credit card numbers, addresses, or other contact information without that person’s knowledge and willing consent.
  13. Do not impersonate an Autodesk employee, agent, manager, host, administrator, moderator, another user, Expert Elite member, or any other person through any means.
  14. Do not post inappropriate content such as:
    • Content depicting nudity of any sort, including full or partial photographic human nudity, nudity in cartoons, or fantasy art.
    • Hateful or degrading comments, messages or media of any kind.
    • Chain letters.
    • Marketing or sales content of any kind
    • Content that includes illicit drugs, profanities, guns, weapons, or graphic violence.

Stay alert

  1. If a user suggests using Remote Assistance to help you, be aware that they will have access to your computer, and that your computer could be hacked.
  2. If you volunteer to help another user through Remote Access, be very careful not to harm their computer in any way, or to access information that is not openly made available to you. Abuse of Remote Access will not be tolerated and will result in your being banned from the community.
  3. Be careful with your personal information. If you mention your email address in a post, it may be used for any purpose by the general public, as this is a public community.
  4. Don't post information that could be used by others to steal your identity, such as your street address, your phone number, your social security number, or your credit card number, serial numbers, agreement numbers, account numbers or product license numbers. Don't share anything about yourself that you would not want to see on a road-side billboard.

Community Managers, Community moderators, and Autodesk product experts

You will see that some community members have an employee logo beside their names. These individuals are employed by Autodesk and have many functions, from helping to keep the community running smoothly or answering technical questions, to posting about events or webinars.

They will assist you where they can, but please note that community managers and community moderators are not necessarily Autodesk technical experts. Publicly calling out, mentioning, or tagging employees on forums or social media with the goal of humiliating, bullying,  doxing, or harassing them will not be tolerated.

The Autodesk team is dedicated to maintaining a safe, healthy, and collaborative community. If at any point you feel that another user has violated the Community Rules, please reach out to the moderation team by clicking the report button on any post.

If you have feedback suggestions for the Autodesk Community website, or some functions are not working as expected, please use the ‘Report A Website Issue’ button at the bottom of each Autodesk Community page.

Use of Model Documents

You may download and use model Documents expressly made available for download by other users for commercial purposes provided such use is only for the purpose of creating, within the ordinary course of your business, designs incorporating such models (and not for the purpose of creating or maintaining sites for the cataloging or access of models) and further provided that you retain all copyright and other proprietary notices in the original downloaded models. Documents specified above do not include the design or layout of this website or any other Autodesk owned, operated, licensed, or controlled website.

Termination and Cancelation

Autodesk reserves the right, at its sole discretion, and without any obligation to do so, to review and remove user-created services and content at will and without notice and delete content and accounts. Autodesk reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to temporarily or permanently ban participants or terminate access to the community if an account has been found to violate the Autodesk Terms.
