One of the first challenges to using Infraworks as a new user is figuring out the navigation operations with mouse and keyboard as they differ from the standard approach with Civil 3D (zoom and pan with the mouse wheel) and most other computer programs.    My suggestion would be to make the navigation controls more intuitive to native CAD and computer game users. The same goes for the keyboard commands, why not use the WASD system? W/S should = forward and back not look up/down A/D should control strafing left and right as it currently does. The computer industry has been using this system since the 1980's, why do we have to reinvent the (mouse) wheel for Infraworks?   At least give us the option to customize the setup. Show More

When Syncing a model I would like to be able to Cancel.   This isn't possible yet and causes problems because upfront it isn't clear how long a Sync will take. Only during the Sync a remaining time is shown. Show More

It would be good to be able to select multiple components so that it would be easier for splitting them at a say, fixed chainage. Currently, for a  two lane single carriageway with shoulders on either side, 4 different splits are required to split at one chainage. Applying SE manually would be much easier and faster. Show More

Dear InfraWorks, How I wish you become a bit maturer and graduate from being like a lost child. I feel like you have great potential if only you focus! Currently you can produce lines by point extraction yet the line work is useless in InfraWorks. You create nice visualizations yet not dynamically linked to the detailed design. You create roads and drainage networks that are impractical for a detailed engineer in the office. You want to analyze traffic, yet no one knows about your abilities. You have easy to use terrain analysis tools yet the terrain itself is inaccurate. Please stop being a jack of all trades because you’re a master of none!   You mingle with GIS, BIM and CAD. Yet you don’t want to learn from your friends. Imagine yourself having a GIS foundation with powerful analysis, overlaid with true infrastructure BIM for dynamic and  parametric modeling capabilities while empowering the detail centric and flexible CAD utilities; imagine how amazing the possibilities can be in your future. When importing a lot of data sources you easily loose the overview in the data source panel as the list of data is getting very long.   The idea is to have additional possibilities to group and organize data sources in the panel. For example if you have 20 3D models as city furniture, it would be nice to have the possibility to create a group "cars" for example, that can be opened (=see all data sources) or closed (=only group name).     Show More

Hello   Id like the cross section to keep the zoom level when moving the yellow tracker along the road. Default zoom in cross section view is always to small for my narrow roads, i need to zoom in all the time. And If i zoom in the cross section view and then move the yellow tracker along a road the zoom level jumps out.      Show More

In order to facilitate easier use or simply display certain aspects of the design it would be useful to be able to hide or isolate particular roads (similar to the object isolation in Civil 3D). Most useful for complex models with many roads, some of which may be grade separated. At the moment roads appear on their own layers when imported from Civil 3D but as soon as any edits occur on them they become part of the "Sketched Roads" layer. If the original layer were able to maintained or, better still, have the ability to move a road to its own layer so that visibility can be controlled.     Show More

It would be great if when bringing roads in from SHP files that you could choose where you want Station 0+00 to be when you convert them to component roads.  A button within the Road Geometry to reverse stationing since the station range is already there would be a good spot for this I think.     Maybe this is already an option and I'm just missing it.  I'm finding myself redrawing roads in the opposite direction quite frequently.     Thank you!   Casey Bekkerus   @Anonymous Sridharan Show More

The overlay of pdfs and images on top of the terrain is a great idea. If that same functionality can be added to overlay on objects like buildings, billboards, etc. would be a great option. For example when you can get a high resolution photo of the front of an existing building and you can apply it directly to the front face would make the 3d model more realistic. Show More

Can you add vertical and horizontal locks for measuring distances?   Or even provide these values -inscreen- as deltaX, deltaY and deltaZ with reference to the USER coordinate system. The USER coordinate system is important because normally my models have LL84 geodetic coordinates coming in from Model Builder in the database.   Furthermore, any extra options like Perpendicular and Parralel would also be nice to have. If you create a stand of trees, you can easily randomize species distribution using Rule Styles. This is a very nice feature of Infraworks. Thank you, Autodesk.   The problem arises when you change the density of the trees by using the slider. Infraworks resets the style for all the trees in the stand to the same as the one selected first. Your rule style is ignored. This means you have to set the Manual Style to None, again, and re-add any tags you had previously applied.   I would prefer that the stand of trees remember the rule style I have applied and would remember the tags as well.   Tim     Show More
