NOTICE: MacOS 10.13 High Sierra is no longer supported

As of this update, Fusion 360 no longer supports MacOS 10.13. This means that Fusion 360 will no longer be receiving updates on any MacOS that is running MacOS 10.13 or lower. Fusion 360 is not available to be downloaded and installed on MacOS 10.13 or lower, from this point, if uninstalled.

Note: Fusion 360 will continue to work on MacOS 10.13 after the April update of Fusion 360 - but Fusion 360 will no longer continue to update, and eventually will stop functioning correctly, as it no longer meets the minimum system requirements to run Fusion 360

The reasoning behind this has to do with Fusion 360 being one of the very few CAD/CAM packages that is supported on Mac. In order to build Fusion 360 on the MacOS - Autodesk must comply with Apple tools, and the versions those tools support. As a result, older versions of MacOS cannot be supported as Fusion 360 continually updates to introduce new enhancements.

It is highly recommended to upgrade to the latest MacOS version that is compatible with your machine.

Known Issues

MacOS

  • Command dialogscanvas menus, and models may be blocked from mouse input if placed behind the component browser
  • Undock the component browser, or resize the browser to a narrower width
  • Fusion 360 does not stay logged in after restarting the application
  • Temporarily uninstall the Autodesk Screencast application while we resolve this issue

Windows

  • Low frame-rate with Nvidia GeForce graphics and DirectX 11
  • Switch Fusion 360 to use DirectX 9 in Preferences > General > Graphics Driver while we investigate this issue

Issues Fixed

Usability

  • vmenonsandeep reported an issue last year where the upload pending dialog was staying in front of other windows on your desktop, which was pretty annoying. This is now fixed.
  • Some of you told us that when you run Fusion 360 on a second display, it became unresponsive. Fusion 360 should no longer crash when used with gaming audio software, such as Nahemic Audio
  • When ales.lucanik tried to click and drag certain components in his assembly, some moved smoothly while others moved very little and was significantly more laggy. We tweaked the modeling engine and now component-drags should all be as soon smooth as possible.
  • We fixed an issue where Fusion 360 would not launch on a machine that had DisplayLink-based USB docking station attached. If the computer was not docked, Fusion launched with no errors on this system. Now it should also launch with no issues with the machine docked.
  • OceanHydroAU showed us this copy/paste bug where he wasn’t able to paste a previously copied text into a field within a macOS Finder window. After we updated our UI engine, this issue went away. You should be able to copy and paste as expected again.
  • If you set up an animation within Fusion 360, you should also be able to view the animation on Fusion Team via the web viewer. Apparently, certain models were missing when viewing the animation in Fusion Team. We found them and now everything should display as they should.

Sketching & Modeling

  • PinRudolf started a discussion around how selections behave when a centerline is automatically populated. Based on this thread, Fusion 360 will now auto-populate centerline as an axis of rotation if there is only one centerline in the sketch ,just after invoking the Revolve command. It also put focus on Profile selection after auto populating the axis of rotation.
  • massimo.bonomo told us about a crash issue that was caused by creating simple sketch geometry such as circles or lines. Sorry about this – after updating the sketch engine this issue is now resolved.
  • We fixed a sketch dimension issue where driven dimensions were not being updated correctly if the value was referring to another previously modified dimension.
  • Sometimes you can’t extrude a closed spline profile if there is a tiny edge somewhere that is still lurking around, making the profile appear to be closed. We improved the performance of the Extrude tool to handle these cases so that you are able to successfully extrude the closed profile.
  • One of our Expert Elites told us about how moving a sketch into a different component broke the ability to edit a Sweep. Sorry about that – now it works as expected.
  • GrAndAG ran into an issue when he tried to select a loft profile, then a point, and then multiple guide rails for the loft to follow. Apparently selecting more than one rail or selecting rails in a particular order caused the loft to fail unexpectedly. Now the loft will succeed.
  • We fixed an issue where using the Collinear constraint in a sketch incorrectly prompted the “Error: Sketch geometry is over constrained” message. Turns out, it was caused by an additional sketch point that was not properly removed when 2 lines were connected together end-to-end.
  • ashes.man reported a repeatable crash issue regarding the Flange command in Sheet Metal creation. We love these types of reports because it helps us quickly narrow down the problem. Thanks ashes.man, we resolved this issue.
  • A few years ago, TrippyLighting told us about a nasty bug in the Loft tool where it was causing the command fail a number of different ways. We’re happy to report that we’ve finally resolved all of the issues he raised. Cheers good sir!
  • Another lingering issue that was fixed in this update was one reported by einkaufV6GJ7 and Big_Mak, where clicking on “Get all latest” incorrectly updated the assembly
  • Will1337 came across a bug in the Circular Pattern tool where after creating one for an Extrude-cut, one of the original cuts was inexplicably removed. Jeff Strater jumped in and was able to come up with a temporary work-around for the time being. Now it’s fixed for good.
  • We fixed a similar issue where if you created a rectangular pattern, suppressed a few instances, then went back to edit the feature in the timeline, the supressed instances appeared as if they were not suppressed at all. Sorry about that.
  • Carmen.carrasco002 had trouble creating a body pattern along path, even though the path he selected was valid. Turns out it was a tolerance bug preventing Fusion 360 from doing it.
  • Apparently Rectangular Pattern wasn’t correctly patterning multiple bodies or components in some cases. Consequently, some bodies and components were being placed in the wrong spots, and did not follow what the preview showed. This is now fixed.
  • jls270999 reported to us that he was crashing on startup of Fusion 360, barely getting passed the splash-screen. We immediately jumped on this and we believe that we have fixed the issue that was causing this problem.

Electronics

  • We addressed reports regarding the stability of Fusion 360 electronics.  For this specific case, creating a 3DPCB from a PCB that was updated from changes on a schematic would cause Fusion 360 to become unstable. The exact cause of this has been identified and addressed.
  • Libraries contain the parts you will be using for your electronic design. After using some components in the design, there will be instances that updates might need to be done to the part using the Fusion 360 library editor. After editing the library part and updating the design, there were a few cases that the 3D mapped model would be lost in the 3DPCB. In this release, the issue has been identified and fixed.
  •   A big thank you to ignacioPT92K to taking the time to participate on our very active Fusion 360 electronics forum. He recently reported that he had stability issues when creating the 3DPCB from his PCB. Our team connected with him to get more details. The problem has been identified and fixed.  ignacioPT92K has confirmed that everything is up and running.

Simulation

  • We found an issue in the Electronics Cooling study where it was not applying heat transfer to some objects, which consequently yielded results with uniform environment temperature. Now heat sources will correctly affect other components.
  • Our support team has received an issue reported by you where the Thread Bolt Connector feature was not calculating the usable thread length correctly. This has now been fixed.
  • You told us about an issue where you were crashing Fusion 360 on startup when you tried to open a specific design. We dug into this and found that in some cases, if you deleted a Simulation model, Fusion 360 wasn’t deleting it completely and can potentially corrupt the design on save. We got this sorted and now delete Simulation Models will no longer cause any issues.

Drawings

  • geoff-hill as well as others have told us about an issues in the drawings environment where joint origins were being incorrectly displayed on shaded views, even though they were explicitly turned off. Sorry about that – this is now fixed.
  • adamautodeskP9BFL found an issue where the Hole and Thread Note tool was showing the incorrect hole size for nested holes. This is now fixed too, the tool should now show the sizes correctly based on the dimensions of the original geometry.
  • raidercad reported that for some weird reason, all the dimensions in his drawings are somehow “off” by a small amount. Some of you have chimed in and tried to help solve the problem. Turns out that the ASME template has some wonky rounding issues, and consequently caused the dimensions to appear off. We tweaked the engine and now Dimension precision values are working as expected.
  • We fixed a few crash issues that you were experiencing while creating/editing views in the drawings environment.
  • One of our Japanese users reported to us that Fusion was unable to display line width when changed the Line Width Group. Turns out this was only happening if you ran Fusion 360 in Japanese, Italian, German, or  Chinese. Sorry about that, good catch! This is now fixed.
  • pj and a few of you have told us that when you create a  detailed view as an 1:1 view, faces of the model that have applied appearance materials do not actually show their respective materials, but instead incorrectly show the physical material of the whole body. We’re happy to report that this is now fixed.

Manufacture

  • Some of you reported to an issue to our support team where an expression entry in a toolpath field was unable to maintain the expression when saving a template with a height mode set to "Selection" and an expression in the offset field. Now the expression will be maintained.
  • A bug was triggering this “Dependency on operation Setup1 is ignored because it doesn't use axis substitution” warning message for some of you, even though you had the correct setup and toolpath. Now the warning is gone.
  • tkms002 reported that while he was designing his trophy plaques, he was able to create an engrave toolpath just fine, but if he saved the file, closed it and opened it up again, the toolpaths oddly became invalidated. I dug into this and found that there was some latency that was affecting how quickly the toolpaths updated. This is now sorted.
  • We fixed an issue where the 2D Pocket tool did not successfully generate in some cases when a pocket face was selected. Instead, it generated when the contour was selected.
  • jepkeklinge told us that he noticed some unusual bobbels and bumps in his Swarf toolpath and was not able to get them out. We looked into this and found that there was a bug in Stock Simulation. The tool moved as expected in a straight movement down each edge but the stock has wavy surfaces after the cut. This is now fixed.
  • We crushed a bug that was causing 2D Adaptive toolpaths to fail generate if you used “Closest boundary” as the Extension Method.
  • The Morph toolpath (just Morph, not Morph Spiral) exhibited an issue where changing the Stepover size to any value produced no changes to the toolpath. Sorry about that – we fixed the issue and now the correct number of steps is obeyed in Morph.
  • ltomuta reported that he was having trouble selecting both contours of a 2D adaptive operation. He was able to do it one at a time, but if he selected both, Fusion 360 froze. This is now fixed.

Nesting

  • jayarvinsettle was trying to nest his parts while using the new nesting capabilities when he discovered a bug where the resulting layouts were very confusing. Turns out that some parts were being recognized as multiple parts, and some were overlapped on top of each other. We were able to resolve this issue and now the resulting layouts look as expected.

I am on the student edition.  Am having issues in the nesting, I have generated a nest study: create setup from nest: when the setup dialog comes up I am unable to select any models nor set my Z, X, and Y orientation. also the view constantly shows other nest over my parts... before the update you would just have the just have the nest sheet you selected to setup.

Just updated to the April update (2.0.10027) last night 4/8/2021 and now I have no toolbars at the top of the screen. I am attempting to learn this program to be able to use it for my job, and have made some great progress, but this is stopping me in my tracks. Ideas? Thoughts? HELP!

There/'s currently a bug/issue where the program crashes/closes unexpectedly when exporting or saving your part as an stl or other file.

Hello! After April update my screen show me black canvas in full screen mode like that image. But when I try to screenshot or capture the video it shows as all normal, without problems. When I exit full screen mode also works good.

Thanks for letting us know - we're working on getting this fixed ASAP. In the meantime, you can use this workaround mentioned in this article: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Too...

Once the fix is live, you should take the next update and with the fix, and remove the environment variable created for the workaround.

@keqingsong Thanks for all the updates on here. I want to draw attention to a bug on mac (M1 MacBook Pro, latest version of macOS - 11.3).

The trackpad driver support is broken. Fusion loses trackpad 2-finger rotate ability almost every time the computer sleeps (i.e. when the screen is closed). Quitting and restarting Fusion appears to be the only solution. Since rotating models is crucial functionality, and this happens many times a day, it really gets in the way of workflow.

I have already spoken several times to Autodesk tech support, who say it's unfixable. This is really astonishing. No other software I'm aware of needs to be restarted every time a laptop's screen is closed and reopened. Can you explain why Fusion is unique in this way? This is paid professional software, and I'm really surprised this isn't a higher priority bug to fix.

Thanks very much for reading.

Set the environment vars doesn't seems to have a positive effect. It's also not possible to change the F360 preferences, because, the menu item is not selectable.

BUG #1: I'm working in Design/Solid: I now have no "appearance" at all. All models are now black-white line drawings. Applying an 'appearance' does nothing. Applying a 'material' does nothing. 'Component Color Cycling Toggle' does nothing. The colorization remains true in the Data Panel (circled in attached screenshot). It only vanishes in the main window. I tried "clear cache data" — no change. Please fix! I'm attaching a screenshot plus diagnostics.

BUG #2: Fusion 360 keeps leaping to the foreground, ahead of all other open apps on my computer, whenever I try to switch to a different open app. This is nuts.

Mac Catalina 10.15.7
