Couple bugs found when trying to Loft

Anonymous

When I tried to loft oval to point I caught several issues.

  • The first one is very minor. When Loft is creating first time, point profile has "Sharp" attribute. But if this Loft then is opened for edit, the same (point) profile attribute is changed to "Free" (whereas there is no "Free" variant in dropdown list at all).
  • The second is better to on the screencast below, but I will try to describe it. When I select rails which are started in the same point, I got different Loft results depending on selection sequence. I can get: loft over single rail, loft using only 2 rails (while there are selected more) or no loft at all due to errors (with the same set of rails, btw). I think it's because when I select a rail, Fusion tries to add that rail as a chained to previous one. The only way (in my particular case) to add all rails independently is to add them one-by-one. To achieve that I had to open "Edit Loft" window, add a rail, close the window, and then repeat that sequence for each rail I have.

In reference to the second point and scast with rails

I have never seen your construction method before, and presume it is not an intended workflow.

I was taught to use the + button, in the relevant section of the dialogue box to tell Fusion, "next profile / next rail".

I presume your method of create - edit is doing the same job.

There is always - many ways to get it done.

Ah, that's the purpose of that '+' buttons! Because I tried them earlier, but in that time Profiles/Rails were not intersected, so I was not noticed any differences of using that buttons or not.

Thanks for creating this thread! I've come across this +button "thing" several times recently and I am not so sure that there is not a little UI bug in there.

The first one definitely looks like a bug to me. The second one, I'm less clear about. I'm not sure that the sequence of the rails selection should matter since the end result would be the same, but I definitely haven't had to think through every single scenario the tool could be used. There may be a good reason for this (or not it could just be a bug). I will log these with development and circle back here with what I find out.

Thank you for reporting this with the great screencast recording and the design file included! It's really appreciated!

Cheers,

Oh yes!

Before the last couple or so of updates one used to just elect the rails icon and the rails were added automatically when clicked on in the viewport.

Now sometimes this works and sometimes it requires to click the + button. It's not entirely sclera to me what drives the difference in behavior.

If you try yo follow the classic tent lofting video you'll see that in the video, this was not necessary. Now you can't loft a tent without clicking on the + button to add a rail.
