tie-rod turnbuckle

Good afternoon Everyone:

I am trying to figure out what and how to make an assemble relationship between the 3 pieces.. left hand thread and right hand thread so that the part works correctly.. turning the center to expand or contract the distance of the tie-rod ends..

I would like maybe a set by step so that I can understand how this is done.. Id prefer that to just having someone do it for me..

thanks in advance.. by the way this is the best group of helpers out there that I have seen..

John

Hey John,

You achieve this by using Motion Link:  http://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/blog/creating-contact-sets-and-motion-links-in-fusion-36...

I hope it helps.

Ben.

not sure how to apply this. I do understand the concept but what type of joint do I apply to the tie rod and then the turnbuckle ? Revolve to turnbuckle and slider to tie-rod?

Thanks in advance for assistance

You can't really do that based the threads, but you can do rotation limits. Watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLJBZnEZ4qg

Ok, What you did was good, But what you're are trying to achieve, is impossible right now in Fusion. You can make one part rotate and another slides. One thing you forgot to-do, is to Ground the middle part 😉

If you want to simulate the the effect of both sides rotating and sliding at the same time, then you should use Motion Study.

just curious. is there a way to make the center piece rotate and the ends move in and out same time - same distance? As the center piece rotates clockwise they move in and counter clockwise they move out?

Maybe you can, but the assembly must have one part grounded!
