Problem: Auto-lock rotation in sketch mode

Since yesterday I am experiencing a strange behavior with my 3DConnexion mouse. That is, I cannot rotate the model when in sketch mode. I used this almost 90 percent of the times to select the surface to project or intersect, but now it is impossible to do that.

I have no idea, what is going on, besides that, the entire settings of the space mouse were reset to defaults. Does anyone know, if this is a new "feature"? And, can you please stop messing with features like this in the future, because people have a workflow that we don't want it to be messed with.

3dconnexion has released their latest driver for windows with full support for Sketch Lock on/off. The version is now 10.8.5

Steps:

1. After installing the latest drivers, open the 3dconnexion settings, Advanced, Other:

This will enable supported devices to take advantage of full Fusion 360 command integration/customization, as well has have control to turn on/off the Sketch Lock feature.

I like the auto lock, but its a pain always to have to press shift and the mouse button to get out of the auto lock mode.

why is there a lock/unlock button when its not used by Fusion ?

What is the lock/unlock button you refer to?

Good question. It might be related to the 3Dconnexion driver, or to the Fusion implementation. Since it's specific to the device buttons I'm assuming it might be an oversight in the 3dconnexion driver. But only a proper investigation will tell, thanks for the report.

If you change your Fusion spacemouse preference to "legacy" the lock button will work.

Add me to the list of people who thinks this is a good feature.  However, the "close integration between 3dConnexion and Autodesk" can lead to some pretty brittle behavior.  Like today, when I should have been designing, I was instead trying to figure out why the spacenavigator didn't work at all anymore in sketch mode but worked fine in model mode.

This thread gave me the clue that I might need to upgrade the spacenavigator driver.  (Working now.)

I've just updated the drivers to 10.8.6 and the lock button is working.

It's a shame it overrights my existing button settings.  I haven't saved for a while and didn't do it before updating 😞

Is there a setting so the drivers auto updated, would be good to know when there's a new update.

I cannot comment about how 3Dconnexion drivers overwrite your settings. But, there is a 3Dconnexion forum.

And here is where you can check for updates in the 3Dconnexion application "home".

Thanks Phil,

Strange but I do have the auto check for updates ticked but it wasn't up to date.

My fault for not saving first, was more a comment in case anyone else reads it before doing the same.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what you are referring to.

What is your Fusion build number, and 3Dconnexion device, and 3Dconnexion driver version?

I really like the Auto Look At sketch feature, but I would love it if it were a little more intelligent or at least had options too. The problem I am facing is that when I sketch something, I would like the Look At feature to align with the actual view, not just when it was in draft.

It rotate itself to a different view and I'd like if it wasn't rotate.
