How to change the default project?

Fusion 360 always opens pointing to the first project I created and will never use again.  Is there a way to change the default project to something else, like the project I'm actually working on?

It was previously defaulting to the most recent, now it defaults to an ancient project.

It's an annoyance.

Has this been resolved or anybody found how to fix it? Every time I open F360 it opens on an old project folder it is extremely annoying.

Hi, Thanks for using Fusion.

Currently, it doesn't work that way. You can click on "My Recent data' to view the files that you recently worked.

If my post answers your question, please click the "Accept Solution" button. This helps everyone find answers more quickly!

Regards,

Sasi

So it will always default to the first project you ever did from now on?

It did not used to be this way. It literally makes me roll my eyes every single time it happens. I figure it could be fixed with all these people annoyed with it.

Can you please fix this?

That isn't a useful answer.

It never used to do this like the other person that replied to your message stated.

So how does Fusion 360 decide where it's going to go to? It can't be a random thing so even setting it hard coded to Home or Favorites would be better than the first project I ever did in Fusion 360 3 to 4 years ago.

As complicated as Fusion 360 is as far as programming goes this should be a simple fix.

Thanks,

Jeffery

What a garbage response. Just accept the non-solution...

+1 Tedious seeing as my first project was rubbish.  Being reminded of it every day is less than awesome.

I would also like to know the answer to this! One computer I have Fusion on opens to the most recent project folder I was working on and one opens to the first project I ever made. Would be great if this bug could be fixed.

Just had another thought about this so may as well bump this thread in the hopes of some resolution. The bug only shows up for me on Windows, on a Mac it's fine.

I came here looking for a solution and found none. It occurred to me to archive the offending first project. I then navigated to my current project and closed Fusion. It reopened in the same place I shut down from. Yay!

@Ronthomp ,

Brilliant!

Works here (but not on the first try for some reason).

Thanks!

Just tried that workaround - it did not work - only difference was that it now opens back at the top of the project tree rather than the first project. Still not opening where it was!!!  Tried multiple times. Still broken.

Working here under Windows 8.1.

I leave Fusion closed for a couple minutes before restarting.

For me, it never opens in sub-folders of the most recent project, that has never worked. It is an intermittant issue, sometimes it opens in the most recent project like it should, sometimes it opens in the first project. No predicting it, no common behavior/cause that I can see. The workaround of archiving that first project did not change anything other than it sometimes opens at the top of the project tree, not in any project, other times it is in the most recent project. So, that workaround only changed the wrong place it goes! Since it is an intermittant issue, testing it once or twice after a 'workaround' is not enough. Seems like such a simple feature to get fixed, the bug is very annoying. If it matters, I am on Windows 10. And it makes no difference if the restart is minutes, or days later, bug still happens.

Still searching for the answer. I could have sworn F360 used to default to your most recent project. What happened?

Just leave Fusion 360 open.  It will cut down on the annoyance🤗
