How to change the default project?

Fusion 360 always opens pointing to the first project I created and will never use again.  Is there a way to change the default project to something else, like the project I'm actually working on?

For some reason unknown to me, Fusion is now defaulting to my most-recent project.  Hopefully it keeps doing that.

Can’t say I understand either situation,

are you saying that when Fusion starts a session, is does not present an Untitled File?

My Data Panel defaults to Recent Projects at the top, but I still have to select a Project to open it.

Might help...

It presents an untitled file, but the data panel has been defaulting to my first project directory, so I have to poke around in the directory structure to get to my current project.  As I posted the other day, it was now opening in the most recent project directory, which is what I want.  This morning, however, it was back to my first project.  So, the behavior is inconsistent.

Mine does exactly the same. Sometimes it opens it to the first project I
did on fusion which is years old but I still kinda want to keep around. I
would really love to be able to set it what I'm working on, because it
takes me a good couple of minutes to find it.

ditto. Bumping this thread because I'm weary of Fusion 360 defaulting often (but not always!) to my first project which I haven't touched or added to in years.

I have exactly the same problem as mungbean48

Please provide a solution to this. I can't keep archiving old project folders just because I don't want to launch into them. It just picks the next-oldest one. This is so annoying and happens every time I launch Fusion.

One would imagine that causing your users to groan and roll their eyes every time they launch the software, is not the best user experience. Please help!

I would also like this issue to be addressed.

It started happening to me somewhere around 20 April '21

Fusion used to open in the same Project folder that it was closed in but now defaults to a folder I haven't used for years.

Although I would still like to see them address this, it is a moot point for me now that they have altered the personal license to allow only 10 editable documents. For me that's actually a plus, because I only tend to have 3 or 4 documents that I would consider active at one time, and my new workflow is to simply open up My Editable Documents in the Data Panel which has them all conveniently in one place!

Please look at this autodesk,

Super annoying to have to dig through folders to get back to what I was working on every time I launch fusion, a simple "set as default project" would be adequate.

It used to do this before I had to re-install now it keeps defaulting to "My first project" every time I open up fusion regardless of how I left it.

I would like to change this also. The most recent project to open by default would be ideal.

Hi, I'm also having this problem being put in a project folder that has one Fusion 360 Design document dated 2015.

Letting us default to a folder of our choosing would be great!

Same issue here. Fusion always starts in a shared project folder...

I have two installs, two seats but in this case one login.  One install defaults to first project.   The other Most recent.     Something very simple a professional cad system like Solidworks   shows recent files at startup.

@TrollTuner2, are you implying you're sharing a single login for multiple users?  Each user should have separate login credentials.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/account-management/users-software/about-subscription

"Subscription with single-user access - Allows one or more named users to access Autodesk products. Each user is assigned a license, which can't be shared with another user."

But, it sounds like your experience is similar.  It's just not standardized behavior across the board.

My Account.

I login on my Work Workstation and it opens in the My first project folder

I login on my Laptop workstation and i get recent files.

Doesn't matter what the newest file is.  Seems it always these.

Gods forbid AU not getting their credits for your user time.. Have to pay the stockholders.

Never use the other account. Its for another employee.   Cant seem to get them to share one data files folder.   Super simple in Soldiworks   Since HSMworks is abandonware I am moving on to fusion.   I had a paid perpetual license but when AU bought out HSM it was lost and now subscription.

Separate accounts allows you to be gatekeeper if someone leaves the company.  It also lets you see how much each user is using their license if you're considering dropping/adding seats.  You also can't have the same user logged in at two different workstations, as it'll suspend or log out the other session.

I'd suggest creating a company Fusion Team Hub from the upper-left of your data panel, if you haven't already.  It's much easier to share data among multiple users that way with common projects.

Still doesn't change the fact that we need a default location when firing up Fusion 360.  It shouldn't be different for everyone.
