Authentication error when launching Fusion 360

Anonymous
Not applicable

Getting this issue when trying to run a trial version of Fusion 360 on my Windows 7 PC. It is a corporate PC.

"The application has encountered an unexpected authentication error and must be quit."

I had previously installed and run Fusion 360 on this PC a few months ago, then deleted it. This new version was downloaded using a commercial promo code.

I have tried downloading and installing using my home wifi (no proxy) as well as through corporate network, which does use a proxy. Get same issue both ways. I can log in to https://myhub.autodesk360.com just fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Kevin

Welcome to the Fusion 360 Community! Sorry to hear about the difficulties getting Fusion 360 to run or install.

You mentioned that you isntalled and ran a previous version of Fusion 360 on the machine. It may be a good idea to perform a clean uninstall of the program to wipe the machine clean. The below link details the step by step instructions for a clean unisntall.

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-...

If the issue is ongoing, it may help to review the installation log file.

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Unab...

I note that there is a 407 error that can be located in install log if the issue is related to the proxy.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Err...

If you are have environment variables for the proxy at work, you may consider removing these for use on the home network. The environment variables may look like the ones in the below link.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Ins...

I hope these suggestions help, please keep us updated on your progress.

Thanks,

Turned out I only needed to run the application as an administrator to get it to work. I think my computer was reconfigured between the initial successful test and getting this error - something that made it so the default "open application" action was set to happen WITHOUT admin access.

Thanks for the suggestions Nathan!

Hello, I get the same problem. I try to solve the issue with some possible solution here but I cant to find the right one.

I install the Autodesk Fusion 360 in my house (without proxy) and it works fine. After that, I try to use this software in my college (the network there is using proxy and authentication such as username and password) and it works fine. After that, I go home and try to use this software but the error happen with message "the application has encountered an unexpected authentication error and must be quit". Is it because I use proxy before? How can I solve this issue?

Thank you very much

* Sorry for english

Arif

In the Control Panel >> Interenet Options >> Connections tab >> LAN settings >> Do you have automatically detect settings enabled?

automatically detect settings.png

You may also consider testing the below procedures:

1. (Close Fusion 360) In windows explorer browse to %localappdata%\autodesk\web services
2. In the Web Services directory, right lick on the Login State.xml file and select delete
3. Restart Fusion 360

Also, this procedure:
1. (Close Fusion 360) In windows explorer browse to %appdata%\autodesk\nuetron platform\options
2. In the Options directory, right click on the NMachineOptions.xml and select delete
3. Restart Fusion 360

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Is the Time and Date settings on the computer correct? Can you try reseting them to match your current time zone?

You may also try unchecking the auto proxy discovery settings in the Network Preferences in the Mac OS.

auto proxy mac.jpg

If this doesn't help, can you share the application log files here?

1. Open Terminal window and type the below command

open ~/Library/

2. Browse to ~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Autodesk Fusion 360/logs

3. Compress the log files and attach them here for further review

Thanks,

I note log files contains curl errors:

6, "could not resolve host," for an autodesk360.com website.

28, "Connection timed out after 20000 milliseconds" for an autodesk360.com website.

This appears to be a network connectivity issue preventing Fusion 360 from authenticating with Autodesk services.

In a web browser, can you access and sign into the below website?

https://myhub.autodesk360.com

Have you tried testing with the firewall disabled?

  1. Choose > Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Security & Privacy
  2. Select Firewall > Turn off
  3. Re-Test

Are you using anti-virus software?

Is it possible to test from another network?

I hope this suggestion helps. I look forward to your reply!

Thanks,

hi Nathan

I signed into the website you said I should, is it something that'll help me with the issue? I also tried connecting with a different network, the fire wall has been off it still shows the authentication error when launching, what do I do?

The website is just a diagnostic test to see if you can access autodesk360.com from a webbrowser.

Did you try changing the proxy settings I mentioned in the previous post enabling/disabling auto proxy detection?

Thanks,

Im having the same problem. I had installed the software and had used it for a few weeks. Yesterday i had created an adhoc network using cmd. I disabled it after i was done. Since then my software is not opening and it says that there is a authentication error and must be quit. I have tried all the solutions that i could find and the proxy tweaks too, but it hasn't helped so far. Pls help me.

I solved this by plugging in my phone to my work computer and using USB tethering on my phone to get around the proxy.  Worked like a charm!  Check google to see if your phone has this option and how to use it.

Hi!

Today the  "Fusion 360 unexpected authentification error" hit me.

The Log Stated following Error:

2016-11-23 22:49:40,665 - MainThread - adsk.dls.streamer.__main__ - INFO :: >>>>>>>> app id is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ---- stream is production ---- global install is False <<<<<<<<

Solution was to change in the "FusionLauncher.exe.ini" File the Line

global = False

to

global = True

and Fusion Launches again!

Maybe this could be helpfully for someone else,

Greetings,

Sebastian

@Anonymous Please give the suggestions in the below link a try.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Fusion-360-sign-in-failure-due-to-service-outage-unexpected-authentication.html

If that does not help, it will be necessary to review the log files from your computer see the below locations.

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Webdeploy\Web Services\Log\

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\%USER SPECIFIC ID NUMBER%\Log\

If the link does not help, please share the log files stored in the above directories so we can review the issue further.

Thank you,
