projecting sketch bug

There is a picky bug related to sketch projections.  Here is the error I receive:
"Error: Projection of the selected spline/curve would result in a degenerate segment and cause future modeling problems!"

The spline sketch I am using to cut from a volume requires a small arbitrary point nudge to allow for a sketch to be projected from the resulting shape's surface.  I can email a file to a QA with steps to reproduce.

Here is a screengrab:

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing Chris!

Could you share a public link of the design with me?

Thanks,

Hi Nathan, thanks for your help.  The steps shown below are more reliable than what I showed in my original post.

Here is a link to the file in question:
http://a360.co/1ScRrLW

Steps to reproduce (1-12):

1) open file and choose >Sketch >Project/Include >Project

2) click on the ground plane to set the orientation of the projected sketch

3) click on the flat top surface of the "Gear" body

4) notice the error message

5) undo all steps or re-open the file

6) click on the top view of the ViewCube

7) delete the point shown in this image
sketchProjectionBugPoint.jpg

8) click on the Home view next to the ViewCube

9) choose >Sketch >Project/Include >Project

10) click on the ground plane to set the orientation of the projected sketch

11) click on the flat top surface of the "Gear" body

12) notice the successfully projected sketch on the ground plane

Thanks  for posting this. The project tools seems to be warning of a "degenerate segment" that could lead to future issues. I'm not exactly sure what future issues. I've logged a report with development (ID: FUS-20906). My best guess is the projection tool is generating an approximation of the spline, but failing for some reason. I'll circle back once I learn more.

Thanks for sharing!

I think I have run into another possible bug involving projection sketches.  Any updates on this one?  Thanks!
