Aligning vertical rectangle at 2/3rd of horizontal rectangle

Hi everyone,

Apologies if this has been posted already but I couldn't find it.

If so, don't hesitate to redirect me towards the answer.

I am drawing a bookshelf and would like one of the vertical panels to be aligned 2/3rd of the width.

While in sketch mode, I drew a point located at 2/3rd of the width.

I tried but didn't manage to have the vertical panel to align on that point.

See screencast and link to file below. Any clue on how to proceed.

Thanks in advance.

Best,

You could set this up,

using these names in the relevant dimension of the sketch.

Might help..

That would be a good solution, but usually my full width includes the left and right side panels.

So to calculate 1/3rd of my width I'd have to do (900mm - 2*18mm / 3) and than create a parameter that would be the correct width. I thought there migth be a quicker way to do so.

Thanks in advance!

Did you insert the correct Screencast?

For the question - I would use 3 colinear and equal construction lines.

I would not have repeated dimensions for features that will always be equal size.

Change from Join to

New Body, or New Component.

With such a complicated sketch, why would thickness present a problem to you?

You could also use Sheetmetal tools (uniform thickness parameter) to simplify this even though the material is not sheetmetal.
