I can save to local drives but when saving to network drive I get some errors. Is there something I missed?
// Error: Insufficient permissions to write to destination directory 'z:\...xx.usd'
// Error: Layer StefanUSD.usd could not be saved to: Z:/...xx.usd
I have definetly all permissions on that drive, as I am admin too.
Hi @doppelgaenger_digital
We've tested this on our side and we were able to write on a UNC path and a mapped network drive. We've hit this issue when we needed admin permissions to write something on disk. If Maya wasn't launch with those privileges, it might be unable to write on that network so there's 2 things you can try.
1. Try to use the UNC path instead of the mapped drive. It might not work but it's worth a try.
2. Alternatively, if you are unable to have the permission to write on that path or anywhere else on that network, you can save you USD file on your local disk and then move it to your network location. It's not ideal, but it might work.
We'll investigate a bit more to see if there's a specific set of permission required. You can try to launch Maya on Windows with admin rights, but I can't guarantee the result
hi @benoit.prevostWH9Z9 !
Thanks for the reply. This is odd, because I never have any problems with admin rights, and I double checked my permissions and I am in full control of everything.
When starting Maya with admin privileges, my network drives aren't recognized at all.
Tried with Maya 2022 and just MayaUSD without Bifrost and I always get the same error.
Strangely I can save out all other formats on my network storage, except USD.
Others are having the same problem.
seems to be a general USD problem with SMB.
