Please add a customizable row for the DWG path of a blockbased component in the spec editor. At least just a row to see the DWG path below the model. We only can see the blockname and not the DWG name and path.     It happens that the assignment/relation between the block DWG and the P3D component gets lost. At least it would be helpful if we can see the DWG path fast (not in Excel export...) or it would be better if we can customize the path if the relation gets lost.   Regards Show More

In my experience, many users append .dwg files or use .nwf Navisworks sessions to see a current or "live" representation of the various models on a project in a rendered view. As work is done on models throughout the day, it's common practice to refresh the Navisworks session to capture those changes. However, depending on the size and complexity of the project, or if there are some large file sizes involved, refreshing can take a long time as the software reprocesses every model. Efficiency would be greatly improved by adding to / repairing the Navisworks refresh options as follows:   1. Add the ability to refresh individual models, e.g. a right-click context menu option for items in the Selection Tree.    2. Repair the Refresh command to behave how it's described, e.g. only process models that have been updated since the session was opened. I know that's how this command is supposedly already set up, but this is not how it actually works in practice. If I'm the only person working on a project (e.g. I know with certainty that there are no other users working with project files) and I have only modified & saved one file since opening a Navisworks session, the Refresh progress window still shows that it's processing every single model / file included in the session and it takes just as long as when the session was initially opened. You should be able to put a filter view of the data manager on a drawing. For example, many PFDs have a table on the drawing that shows flows, pressures, and temperatures. This table should just be a view of the data manager that displays the data from all of the process flow lines and equipment. Bonus if you can change the data on the table.   Show More

I used to set up my title blocks with the revision block as fields tied to drawing attributes so that I could break out a database editor (at least for SQLITE projects) and mass update all the attributes before logging back in and refreshing the drawings.  It was far easier than touching all of 100+ sheets and adding a new revision.   Looks like this isn't an option in BIM360/ACC projects, based on how the database is stored.  I get that, but it's painful to have to update all these one at a time.  Maybe we can get the ability to view and edit the drawing properties from the data manager?  That would be a good enough work around. I would like off-page connectors to automatically sync line segment data between drawings upon being connected. Currently only the line group data properties are the same upon connecting (since there is only one discrete group record in the database). Line segment data always has to be reconciled after connecting OPCs, so it would make more sense to either define that one P&ID's line segment data always trumps the other (ie: the orginating P&ID trumps the destination P&ID), or automatically prompt the end-user to select which line segment data should be used immediately after a connection is made.   Thanks, Craig Show More

Dear Sir/Madam,  We use Inventor for steel constructions and Plant 3D for piping. To see the combined model we use Navisworks. We'd prefer data to be imported/exported between P3D and Inventor to keep properties like steel category, pipe type, weight and center of gravity etc.  It would nice to have a whole request feature in Inventor when imported from P3D pipe is penetrating  steel construction (now it's 3D reference geometry). In short we'd like to have high level combination of multi-disciplinary objects (with production information included) in both P3D and Inventor models. If I open a PDS or PDMS models in Navisworks, I am able to see a structured way of display like..Pipe Line no, under that fitttings and valves, then seperate for Equipments, then structures and seperate for supports with tag nos. If a site person/reviewer wants to see a support, easily he can select the support tag and can see the support Navisworks(from PDMS), from Plant3d its difficult now. When using BIM with Plant 3D, instead of using SQLlite and using a checked out copy of the DCFs, the database should reside on the BIM website that can be connected to. That way you have much more functionality with other programs that use the data like Auxalia or database programs. Also the data is more streamline when the data is accessed by different users and there is less likely to be conflicts.  Show More

There is currently no way to cut/copy and paste P&ID assets from one drawing to another without losing the original PnPID. We rely on the PnPIDs for version comparisons and change tracking. Adding this option would allow data records to remain in tact. Pipe Line data sets could greatly benefit from this as well. Show More

I suggest the ability to create a VR Viewer for DWF and DWFX files, as an addition to Design Review (would be the best choice, could be a paid Pro version) or an additional product. The Idea of VR for these filetypes is not a "Bling Bling" VR with a lot of material and lightning stuff, it should be a quick and performant way to give the engineer the ability to walk in his creation, without having to import it to MAX etc., simple VR for engineers to check and visualize designs.   Features should be:   - quick in VR without any preparation - selectable views - measure inside VR - annotate in VR and save annotation in DWF - meta data of parts and assemblies displayable in VR   This could be a game changer on the market, anyone who can publish DWF would have the ability to easy use VR in the design process. Nearly any Autodesk Design Product can publish DWF, you would even be able to choose your DWF Preview from Vault and WALK IN, company wide. Show More

Off Page Connectors (OPC) are an great and powerful component of intelligent P&IDs, and Plant 3D does a reasonable job of validation between the line conditions on either side of the OPC.    The Problem: The validation is limited and is only identifiable by the 'caution' symbol on the OPCs. This requires drafters to be vigilant to notice and correct these.  Unfortunately, there is no way to validate or report on inconsistent line properties for a project, or even whole a drawing. This places a tax on project time and adds a level of risk.   Project validation does not review the OPCs other than if they are disconnected, which is a good start.  Data Manager reports and Report Creator don't have the logic or query strength to be able to identify inconsistent line conditions between connected OPCs.   Potential Solutions: Ideally, Project validation would have an option to validate  and report on erroneous OPCs.   If it could have a variable to specify what properties should be checked, I think that would help resolve some of the other OPC ideas posted.  Alternatively, enhancements to either of the report generators and the inclusion of a default Template OPC report would enable users and managers to run a report and have confidence in the OPCs.   I notice a number of other Ideas posted for OPC, so I am linking here for reference. P3D PCF to Pipe functionality seems to be the only way at this moment to get in intellligent (rich data) 3D models from third parties like Cadworx, AutoPLANT, etc... Only, it has too much limitations at this moment. It does not recreate the supports, Tagnumbers on valves, incorrect Stubend lap joint assemblies, incorrect handling the Pipe bends, and some more.... It is important to create a more accurate 3d model with maximum intelligence from the third party application via the pcf file. This pcf file, in most cases is configurable to contain maximum information available.  This improvement will help to convince third party plant design users to use P3D in the future, having less rework, having higher and richer 3d models quality.  Rgds, RC Show More

Currently exporting data from Data Manager to an Excel spreadsheet will only export the properties that are not set to ready-only. Also, the Export and Import Settings in Project Setup will not recognize read-only properties either. So you can't tell Plant to include the read-only properties in the export.   When I mark certain properties as read-only I don't want them visible for editing in the Properties dialog or Data Manager by the Drafter/Designer. I do want those properties available in the exported excel spreadsheet in order for the Engineer to add the data for import back into Plant.   Let me know if I need to clarify anything. Show More

i know Autodesk has been working very hard the last few years in having a cloud based project version for Plant 3d and integrate in into BIM 360.   Overall this is a fantastic idea.  However this problem my company, along with alot of other companies would have would be that it would exist in the Autodesk cloud.  As an example, my company would never go for such a thing because when something happens and goes down, we have to people to immediately get it working again, as opposed to having to wait on someone at Autodesk to get it going.  Other companies do work for the government and no matter how much security Autodesk might put on their cloud, it would never be allowed to be used on a government project. All that being said, if Autodesk would create a version to work on a companies private cloud, companies would likely pay a premium to have it. Show More
