Program that select blocks by name within a selected closed boundary

It's been 15 years since using LISP. I need a program that prompts to pick a closed boundary then counts specific blocks by block name. I have the counting done, I just need how to select boundary and use that boundary for block selection. Help please.

You only wish to count blocks inside a boundary of.... a closed pline or polygon? A window of your selection? a combination of shapes that defined a "closed" space?

And if the block is just slightly into the boundary? or only partially inside or outside it?

Everything inside. It is polyline. Just a block for now but I can change/add for other things. Just having issues with the polyline selection and selecting objects inside.

@gschmidtAH4PP What year version of AutoCAD are you running? Latest ones (2023-24-25) have COUNT command, and one of the sub-options is to select a polygon to count inside it.

That's a core feature (and the sub-option is OBJECT, not polygon)
