Hi and Welcome to AutoDesk Forum,

You can add objects to, or remove objects from the selection set by pressing SHIFT while selecting, also make your PICKADD=2.

Note:

  • you can type R then [enter] to change selection mode to remove. Then you can type A then [enter] to switch back to add selection.
  •  if you have Raster Design and or AutoCAD Map?

If so, run the commands MAPIOPTIONS ) or IOPTIONS . Look for a setting labeled “Shift+Left click image select”

Uncheck this setting and see if it's fixed.

Hi @Anonymous!

Can you verify that verify the PICKADD variable, is it set to 2 or is it set to another value?

Use the options command.

Go to selection tabs.

The Use Shift to add selection box should be unchecked.

Hope it helps

Try TEMPOVERRIDES command.

TEMPOVERRIDES doesn't work with any value(0 or 1) but a google search fixed it: RASTER TOOLS>INSERT AND WRITE(both drop downs) brings dialog box: USER PREFERENCES>under Mouse settings uncheck "Shift + left click image select".

Another problem I'm having with my new laptop and 2018 Autocad(educational version) my Right click customizations settings are like every version I have ever used: right click enters and repeats command. Now I have right click twice SOMETIMES. Sometimes only once. When it doesn't work correctly the cursor just disappears until I move the mouse. Right clicking again enters the command what is up with that. Thanks rt.

I was suffering like you, the solution is >> first choose the command that you want to do ( for example Move) then select the object, and after that press Shift.

That solution is not appropriate for this issue.

I've been having trouble with this - my select object, move, shift (so that it goes vertical or horizontal) isn't working.  The shift key is no longer making this happen.  I've tried all the above suggestions - just downloaded my new 2023 autocad LT and its still not working.  Help please!
