Is there a way to have CTRL-Z skip over pans and zooms?

I will often find myself wishing that CTRL-Z skipped any pans and zooms that may have happened between the moment of execution and the last "actual" change.  The drawing of a line, for example.

Is there a setting for this?

Not that I’m aware of. Usually an undo steps through everything. There isn’t an option to view which steps you want to remain. This sounds like a great wishlist item for you to provide feedback directly to Autodesk

This topic has been raised multiple times before [you can Search for more Topics about it], and frankly, kind of beat to death.  It may not go all the way to what you want, but you do have the option to at least get close to it, with this setting, which applies to Ctrl+Z as well as to the use of the U command:

I don't have time right now to actually write it, but it should be possible to write a lisp routine that would need to be run before you do the undo command.  It would save the current view scale and coordinates of the view's corners.  Then you'd do your undo operation and run the mating routine that would restore the view to the previously saved state.

It would probably be wise to also save and restore all the viewports on all the layout tabs.

In addition to the setting for this shown in Message 3, you can also Undo as many recent operations as you want at once, from the [red-circled] little pull-down by the back-pointing-arrow Undo icon up in the ribbon:

That Pan and Zoom item actually represents about six various Pans and Zooms, which it keeps track of collectively because I have checked that combine-them setting, and which it undoes collectively if I pick on that.

From what I read of the original question, the OP wants to undo changes that are not view related (erase lines, draw lines etc) not limit the number of Undo actions required to get there.  The lisp routines I suggested above would save the view states of all the views.  Then you could do your undo operations as far back as need.  Then use the second lisp routine to restore the views.

If I have enough time later this week, I might write something like that as I too would find it useful at times.
