AutoCAD - Osnap keyboard shortcuts missing a click

I've been using ACAD consistently since the DOS based release 10 and have come across an intermittent problem that I believe started in AutoCAD 2022 and still persists in 2023.

I often use keyboard shortcuts for osnaps that I don't want on as default, such as 'nearest'.

I have found that sometimes when I type 'nea' and hit enter (it can be any osnap not just nearest) it shows the correct autosnap marker symbol and I pick a point, however it hasn't actually picked anything. I then pick my second point for displacement (if using a modify command) and it becomes the initial base point. Very annoying as this has never previously been an issue.

I can replicate the issue......somewhat, and it always corrects itself if I do the exact same operation again.

I thought it was an issue with my mouse's left click button but the above situation seems to be the only time there is ever an issue.

Anyone else had a similar issue?

Have you tried turning off command suggestions

AFAIK the autocomplete feature is for selecting a command in the first instance and is not active during the command itself. It knows exactly which osnap i have typed since it displays the correct symbol, it just won't pick the point I want on first click.

It can be either the base point or the displacement point that gets missed as long as I've manually typed the osnap..........nea, end, mid etc.

If repeat the exact same process it works as it should.
