Batch Publish Plot Problem

When I do a batch publish, the preview shows all lines correctly from an xref in the drawing, but the pdf does not print those lines. It worked previously, but not anymore. Any ideas?

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD for Mac forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

To be clear, if you run a PLOT then everything prints properly? If so, please make a quick Screencast video to show me how you are plotting with the PUBLISH command.

Which version of AutoCAD for Mac are you using?

Does this happen with only certain files or all of your files?  Can you please attach a sample dwg(s) and your plot style so I can try to duplicate this behavior?

I have attached a screen shot of my CAD file, and the resulting pdf. I am using AutoCAD LT 2015 for MAC. When I use batch publish the building on the top left of the site plan disappears (I am batch publishing 3 sheets total). When I select print for an individual sheet the building shows up. As you can see, it is there in the DWG. The building is on an xref.

Hi Dave, Unfortunately, I don't see your image. Is it possible to PACKAGE your files and send them to me at john.vellek@autodesk.com?  What OS are you using?

Was there any solution to this? 

I'm having a similar problem. 

I can plot to a pdf just fine but when I batch publish the pages are blank. 

I'm using AutoCAD 2018 for Mac

I have not found a solution for this problem yet. Similar to what you describe I can print each individual page to a pdf, but the batch plot leaves certain xref's blank.

Where are these xrefs? On the local or on the network drive?
If the last, try to copy xrefs to the local drive and test Batch Publish. Do you have correct results now?

Can you compress your project into a ZIP file and attach to a post or email to me at john.vellek@autodesk.com?   You can actually use PACKAGE (eTransmit) to include all the necessary reference files, fonts, plot styles, etc.

Please take a look at the PDF I produced from your drawing. I was still missing one xref (which I deleted using the Xref Manager) but other than that I think this worked properly.  I first ran AUDIT on your file and it found 36 errors!  I then created a named page setup and applied it to each layout.  When I run PUBLISH, I do not see any errors and I believe the resulting file is correct.

Following my last post, we had additional email conversation and you indicated that the PDF I sent you was totally white pages. I typically open the PDFs in Acrobat Pro on my Mac and the PDF showed up fine there. You were opening in Preview. When I opened in Preview, I too saw only white pages in the PDF. I switched (from the View menu) to the Contact Sheet Option. It took a minute but eventually I could see the thumbnails and then all the pages in the PDF displayed properly.

So, I believe that Preview is the actual problem in this issue. You might consider trying another PDF reader such as the one from Adobe to see it behaves better.

You sent me your project and I took a look at it.

I moved all the files into one folder to work with so I would not have to battle reference file locations. I ran Audit, Purge, and Purge>Regapps on each file in your project.  Some drawings reported errors and one file had over 29,000 regapps.

A couple drawings also had extensive scale lists that can cause issues too.  I did not check each file to verify that all the xref files were found and present, but the final drawing looks OK to my eyes.  In the one large file with the layouts I published, I did create a named page setup to apply to each layout.

Hi @Anonymous,

I am sorry this isn't working for you yet. Try starting AutoCAD, disconnecting your network and working with the files I provided in a single folder on your local drive. If that works then you might be fighting some xref paths. Your host file or even some of the xrefs with nested xref files might be looking in various places for the reference files and be unable to find them.

Did the PDF I gave you look like it was correct?

In the zip file that you sent there are no sub-folders, and therefore the xref paths to each of the files is not linked. I saved the zip file and opened it from my desktop.

Hi @Anonymous,

You are welcome to move them to subfolders but when a reference file is attached, the current folder is searched first so you should not need to move them unless you think they are trying to find them in the original locations.

If you take a look in the External Reference Manager, you will see the assigned path as well as the FOUND AT location. This will show you that the files I put all in one folder can be found.

Hello everyone!

This is my first post, though I have visited the forum many times and always found the answer to my questions thanks to your contributions.

I think I have a similar problem, though not exactly the same:

I have drawings with several xrefs, many of them have nested references. I can plot them perfectly, but when I publish, the simple xrefs are OK, but the nested ones (LD-Ejes and SELLO-LaDehesa) disappear and their rutes appear instead.

I use AutoCAD 2017 on High Sierra.
