Export numbering to Revit

Export numbering to Revit

Hello,

It would be very nice if we could have single part marks and assembly marks exported to Revit via the .smlx file. Maybe to have them integrated with the Identity Data of each element.

Thanks!

This is a crucial need for us.

It would be a great improvement and extremely useful!

That sounds amazing

I think this will be extremely valuable to many people including me

Please let me know should you have any assistance

This would be great!  It would be nice to be able to do E-Sheets and Details in Revit and Assembly and Part drawings in Advance Steel!

Advanced steel sync with Revit is useless without Numbering sync.

I have been tasked with trying to use Revit to assist on our projects. Without numbering that can transfer from either advanced steel to Revit or Revit to advances steel, Revit is useless to us. I have spent the past two weeks learning Revit and now I see it was all for not.

The numbering export to Revit would be extremely useful. It would allow general arrangement drawings to be prepared in Revit so that AS can be used for MP and SP drawings only. This marries the strengths of both programs.

I agree. It would be a great addition to the integration between the two tools. This integration with numberingis not possible, limits the use of Revit in the elaboration of the executive design.

This topic has been around for 4 years. For such a useful addition, it would seem that the software engineers at autodesk can't figure out how to make it work so they have just ignored it.

I have customers requesting this feature, any chance of someone at Autodesk to provide an update as to whether this is at least being looked at?

The worst part is that you can't even determine what Revit elements link to what AS elements using API...

Interoperability between products is key. Amazed after 4 years there seems to be no progress on this. Or at least an update

@dennis_collin

It is not possible that the company has not thought of a solution to such a demand. It would make it too easy for anyone using the AutoDesk AEC suite.

This is by far the most needed resource regarding integration. It is amazing that this is not yet available nor taken into consideration by Autodesk.

Sad is that the smlx file contains numbering information.

When you use Graitec Bimconnect to transfer smlx to Revit you get the numbering info but you get no detailing.

GRAITEC and Autodesk Revit Objects Mapping - Graitec

When you use Advance Steel extension for Revit you get the detailing but no numbering.

I have found a way to get part marks and assembly marks from AS IFC eksport and write too elements in revit,

using dynamo.

Thinking Autodesk should fix this issue years ago.

This is critical to a full intergrated workflow.

We have customers who need to add UniClass data to their Advance Steel models. This isnt possible in Advance Steel.

In Revit there is a BIM Interoperability plugin which allows them to add this data.

But the SMLX transfer doesnt transfer the Assembly or single part numbers into Revit

Hey @tom.slaasletten ,

Can you show how you did in dynamo in order to make it work? If you could provide the dynamo file it would be extremely helpful. Thanks!
