Advance Steel custom commands-share your ideas

Hello,

It will be nice to learn more about custom commands / combination of Autocad and Advance Steel commands improving productivity. 

To colleagues willing to share-Thank you.

Here is a tiny example:

"Hide parts with identical numbers"-used when parts are detailed using drawings styles.

^C^C_AstM5equalpartsMarkSame \;AstM4CommSelectMarkedObjects ;_AstM4SwitchReprMode off

And another one:

"Hide Similar Advance Steel Objects":

Really? I tested it yesterday and with End If I got not error.

no, if this is the script below, it is not working:

The top beam has camber 

The bottom beam is without camber

If we update detail it works fine, if we manipulate from detail properties-adding default views - it would trigger the messages to pop up.

Hi everyone, 

Not a custom command, but I found a piece of a tiny small software saving time with the everyday back-ups, 

SyncFolder 

Option to Synch and Copy, also-scheduling when to be performed, or manual etc.

I find it a time saver and decided to put it here.

I have never used the Windows synchronization, I cannot compare. 

But this one is really good.

Ever used RoboCopy ? It's already on your system and it's extremely powerful.

Never used it, have you tried SyncFolder?

First software to install when resetting or setting up a workstation.

I was trying to find a way to create a process that will ONLY select loose parts but can't quite get it. In the mean time I added this little "compound command" to the tool pallet that will mark loose parts, select them, and then unmark them:

^C^C_AstM4CommStandaloneParts _AstM4CommSelectMarkedObjects _AstM4CommUnmarkObjects

be careful with this command, I would add an "unmark" in the beginning. If you already have marked object, the command for "mark standaloneparts" will not clean up the marking before mark the standalone parts. So this could be dangerous

For users sharing model views with fabricators, engineers, and erectors:

Shared Views is good for 30 days unless the link is extended, not handy for projects having design changes and done in phases within 4-6-12 months period.

So I was searching for a way to have a model view shared with clients, and with the same link working after design changes, not expiring.

Once model is done, we upload it to Autodesk Drive and create a QR code using this site , save it as png file and place it on erection drawings somewhere near the title block.  It can be done in prototypes, or in PDF files-as a signature or stamp, placed on all sheets at once.

If we have design changes we simply upload a new version of the model, with the old link still working.

The main feature I like about Shared Views is ability to comment. I see Drive lets us measure now at least.

Hmm 💡, check it out..  A QR Code ACAD app  I didn't try it yet but it could remove a few steps from the process.

Actually this is pretty handy. 

I'm sure we could embed a project attribute mtext into prototype and presto!!!
