Hello,
It will be nice to learn more about custom commands / combination of Autocad and Advance Steel commands improving productivity.
To colleagues willing to share-Thank you.
Here is a tiny example:
"Hide parts with identical numbers"-used when parts are detailed using drawings styles.
^C^C_AstM5equalpartsMarkSame \;AstM4CommSelectMarkedObjects ;_AstM4SwitchReprMode off
And another one:
"Hide Similar Advance Steel Objects":
^C^C_SelectSimilar \;_AstM4SwitchReprMode off

For straight structural steel for buildings we use the AS welds, fillet welds are ok, But no way I would represent my work using AS symbols for bridges. This will never happen.

Welds in bridges never change, also- repetitive many part located dense to ea other will create a forest of weld symbols.
Also, instead of welding 70 parts with one command I have to weld ea at least 3 times.
Also, I will send you a check for $600.00 if you can make tale and symbols above and below line appear as shown.
Then I will post it here to be used by everyone.
Have a great day.

Hi Sebastian,
is it possible to create a command that only hides all claddings .
I will have a look for it, but I'm sure, if yiu try it, my result will be not good 😉

Here's on answer (could not find it so fast), where you could start a saved filter search by the name of the filter.
so the command should be:
"use filter with name *cladding*" + select marked object + only show selected object + unmark obects
--> a little bit homework for you Ralf 😃

I just see it now, you want to hide, the objects...easiest way: turn the cladding layer of
If myou want to have a command:
_AstM4CommUnmarkObjects;_AstM4CommModelSelection;cladding;1;"";0;_AstM4CommSelectMarkedObjects;_AstM4SwitchReprMode;off;_AstM4CommUnmarkObjects;
But therefore you need a saved filter search with the name cladding

I have these for showing or hiding objects in joint boxes so it will work for cladding if the joint box is still there.
^C^C_AstM4SwitchReprMode;FROMCONOBJ;_AstM4SwitchReprMode;off; - HIDE JOINT BOX OBJECTS
^C^C_AstM4SwitchReprMode;FROMCONOBJ;_AstM4CommSelectAllDscObjects _OPP ;_AstM4SwitchReprMode;off; - HIDE JOINT BOX OBJECTS
Thank you for posting these.
If someone wants to place the command in the ACAD tool palette:
Isolate objects in a joint: (select joint first)
^C^C_AstM4SwitchReprMode;FROMCONOBJ;_AstM4CommSelectAllDscObjects; _AstM10ViewSelObjects OBJECTS;

Hi,
I am looking for the fastest way to measure the angle between two beams projected horizontally per current UCS.
LISP that is taking the system or physical end points X and Y ordinates and returns the angle.
Thank you.

Hi Ilko,
have you tried GPT yet? It's useful and free 😁😉🤜🤖🤛😔🤠
Naturally, you still have the opportunity to raise a question on the LISP forum 😉

Hi @acbsdesign,
do you have some picture for you task? It can also be solved mathematically through vectors 😉.
Sorry I total forgot that I want to have a look fpor the weld symbol.
The block is really good and I'm not sure if all requirements would be possible with AS.
But in general I would think this could be done, but afterwards you will have a drop down in the weld symbol which is very very long 😃
The symbol is based on layer, so from my point of view, there had to be:

Thank you for the screenshots and the video.
Will give it a try again, at least to be used for buildings, but probably not going to use it for bridges.
It is a different scope of work, design is always 100% complete or at least major welds are 100% complete.
And for a particular DOT (Department of Transportation, rules for every state) welds are 99.99% always same size stiffener to web and flanges.
Welds at webs to flanges for plate girders may vary, but there are too many schematics in one bridge dwgs package, using dynamic blocks or even preloaded symbols in prototypes is much faster.
Same for welds Flange to Flange.
We cannot add AS weld symbols to schematics anyway.
Also, different companies have different welding procedures as standard.
So I have separate blocks with welding procedures entered. Simple blocks, not dynamic.
Also, as we said, welds are moving during an update, and this doesn't help at all.
Stability in front of everything.
Anyway, different projects require a different setup, and I will give it a try to modify the default AS symbols to be close to perfect at least for building.
Thank you again.

GPT suggested a few different lisps, but none of them worked.
Will try the LISP forum.
But this is related to AS members, not ACAD, not sure if the answer would be there.
Thank you.

yes the standard for different customers are known 😃
For this you could create different WeldTemplate.dwg and replace them for the customer you want.
But this will need an adjustment for each customers...if the customers is maybe sometime the same, the start dialog could be used for such adjustments:
Instead of "International" and so on we could use the folders for "customer A", "customer B" and so on, but this is only helpfull if you have the customer often

Ok on the country settings, but it even complicates things further.
Below is an example of an assembly with many parts in it, with all different welds involved.
Placing welds for each member first will take time, second it will create a forest of weld symbols.
Not even talking about time to reposition / clean repetitive etc.
So you can believe me when I say it is sometimes more feasible to use dynamic blocks in lieu of AS symbols.
1. One command to weld all parts.
2. Place a few blocks on detail dwg that never move, even if we get earthquakes around the Boston area.

One one similar project-I used a combination of AS symbols and added blocks to them.
What happens is if we update detail, weld symbols move, blocks stay.
