In the numbering system, there is an option to 'keep number if possible,' similar to Tekla in Advance Steel.

Hi,

If you run the numbering command on a model that is already numbered nothing will change number unless it has to. Possible reasons to change number would be:-

• A part is no longer the same as others with the same number, The part that changes gets the new number and the parts that did not change keep the original number. 
• A part that was different is now the same as other parts. The original part number with the highest quantity is kept (usually the lower number). 

If neither of those things is true then the part will not change number. You can renumber the whole model as often as you wish.  

You have to deliberately remove all numbering to make Advance Steel potentially change previously assigned numbers otherwise. Even then the algorithm is likely to come up with the same answer again depending on what has happened in the model since the last numbering.
