Scheduled Actions

Scheduled Actions

In construction management, there are a lot of dates or events that trigger work. Being able to plan for these with triggers and accompanying actions would greatly improve the responsiveness to the client and contractor.

The most simple would be scheduling the "Expiration" of an approval. For example, some materials are approved for a duration based off the last provided Certificate of Analysis. Being able to schedule reopening a submittal for an updated Certificate of Analysis would mean that the Construction Manager would not need to manually track this expiration in anticipation of manual work (reopening the submittal).

It would also allow for other reoccurring submittals to be requested, such as weekly or monthly reports from the Contractor.

This could be expanded by allow other actions like submittals being tied to RFIs. An RFI may affect various Submittals, such as a scope of work changing and requiring new Shop Drawings and Alternate Products. By allowing individuals to propose affected Submittals within the RFI module, it creates a traceable causal link for the driven behind reopening, or creating, certain submittals.

This could be as simple as the RFI manager linking submittals with a simple question to the RFI viewers. Where they simple mark each of the listed submittals as needing a new revision or not needing a new revision, with an optional short comment. When the RFI is returned, the RFI manager can decide to pass those through or modify them.

Yes, we need expiring "approvals" (inside submittals) or at least notifications that a certain certificate validity will lapse and must be renewed.
