Enhancing Form Template Creation with Project Attribute Integration

Enhancing Form Template Creation with Project Attribute Integration

In Autodesk Construction Cloud, form templates are a powerful tool for standardizing data collection across projects. However, the current process of manually creating and populating fields for each template can be time-consuming and error-prone — especially when those fields duplicate existing project attributes.

Proposal: Enable Project Attribute Lists in Form Templates

To streamline template creation and ensure consistency, Autodesk Construction Cloud should allow users to select from existing project attributes when building form templates. This would:

  • Reduce redundancy: Instead of manually recreating fields like "File Name" or "Project Code" in every form, users could simply select these from a centralized attribute list.
  • Ensure consistency: Using standardized attributes across forms ensures uniform data formatting and naming conventions (e.g., file names that follow project naming rules).
  • Accelerate template production: Predefined attributes would eliminate the need to manually configure dropdowns or field logic for each form.
  • Improve dashboarding and reporting: Currently, each form field is exported with a unique field ID, even if it represents the same concept across templates. By linking fields to shared attributes, data aggregation and visualization would be more accurate and efficient.

Benefits for Data Management and Insights

  • Unified Field IDs: Shared attributes across templates would maintain a single field ID, simplifying data exports and integrations.
  • Better analytics: Dashboards could more easily group and compare data across forms and projects.
  • Scalable workflows: As projects grow, teams could reuse templates without reconfiguring core fields.
