Creating a Catalog of Options/Component that can be Inserted in a Drawing

Hello,

I am new to this forum. Hopefully I can pose this question coherently. There are many options and components that are repeatedly added and edited within a set of drawings used for a particular product line. Instead of creating these components from scratch or searching for an existing file that contains them already made and copying them over, it would be nice if the user could access some sort of organized catalog or library of components and insert them in the drawing to the appropriate scale without leaving the drawing window. I know something similar exists for AutoCAD electrical. Is this functionality available in AutoCAD? If not, is it programmable?

Design Center . Ctrl + 2

Join all components as blocks in a dwg .

Or create one drawing with all the blocks/components and use the Design Center to create a Tool Palette.

Design Center will not be needed afterwards and a Tool Palette is more compact and user friendly for what you want IMHO.
