Vault backup Function Append incrementals to Full backup

you should be able to append to a Full backup instead of restoring all the incrementals as well as the full backup , seems stupid to have to do a full back quite frequently , and when concerning a large data base has to be done on the weekend , which in a IT enviroment is when all the other Server maintenance is done, but not on vault because I have to do a full backup which takes 15-18 hours when validating .

Have you looked into using other backup methods that your IT department maybe using? Also, what is the size of your backup (databases and file store)?

Yes ,

we use appasure for everything else but have found some gaps in its coverage that we weren't happy with so we went back to the ADMS console four our vault , plus following with the warnings that Autodesk suggested when it comes to restoring a Vault we decided to go back to the ADMS backup.

50.58 gig sql

542.12gig total File store

Tip!

Do not rely on the windows task scheduler to run your backup scripts.

Our live 2014 Vault Pro with 11GB Database and 200GB of filestore and all standard content and some custom content databases  does a Full backup in < 2hrs. The full backup including validation takes < 5 Hours.

The same task on a development system takes 30 Hours (exact hardware and a restored vault entire system)

The difference is that the development Vault system uses Windows task scheduler and the live system backup scripts are run as part of the tape backup solution (Backup Assist) i.e.  vault backup scripts run before the final backup to tape.

The Windows task scheduler priority is shockingly poor , using this in a live system is just not a viable solution due to the times involved.

As the backups are usually run out of office hours there is no reason to restrict the server resources in performing the backup.

Hope this helps
