Stop Job Processor reporting Error when License is not acquired - and send a note to Admin instead

Currently (R2021) Vault Job Processor reports status ERROR on a Job, if it can't acquire a license.

This is essentially wrong - as it is the Job Processor with the Error - not the Job!

It also means the job is failed and cannot be picked up by other Job Processor - unless Admin Re-submit job.

As a License server with no License will quickly continue to next job, it will in no time send the entire remaining Queue to Error status, and leave a big tidying up Job for the poor Admin (= Me!).

In our setup will will probably need to run several Job Processor simultaneously, and one JP could loose the connection to a License server. The Job Processor with no License should instead attempt to pick up a License again 5 or 10 min. later and hopefully continue.

We would like the failed Job Processor to send a notification to Admin after 3 failed attempts to get a License, while the other JPs continue working through the Job Queue.

In my view job processor should never ever be asked for a licences, and just do their processing jobs...

I have been wasting too many hours of my life, doing the job server is supposed to do...

And I would highly recommencement for Autodesk to start developing their application(s) to fully support VM as job servers, and to be run on a Windows servers, maybe even on the same server were the Vault server is installed by default.

I know we can speak all day long about all the fails and glitches, but please Autodesk, get your things together.

🙂
