Possibility to edit and/or add only comment without physical file change

Hello.

It would be great to have a possibility to edit and/or add only comment without physical file change.

Currently "Comment" property cannot be editted, because it is "Read-Only".

Also only "Comment" cannot be added (when checking-in for example), because there is no "physical" change on the file, therefor ignores the added comment.

You can create a custom user-defined property to add a comment without creating a new version of the file.

But why would be create a "custom" property, if system property already exists...

We would like to have comments on same property, not on multiple different propeties.

You already have two comment options. The one you are using is about the check-in of the file which is why you can't edit it alone.

You can use the Comment property that is linked to the File comment property, and that will also allow you to add a comment without checking out a file.

That is correct, but even if we use check-in again (without physical file change) it ignores the comment, that why idea was presented.

As for file comment property, it is a workaround, but it is better for users to use 1 property and that is Vault comment property.

If you use the Comment file mapped to the File's comment field you can use Edit Properties to add a comment without running through a checkout.

You most likely already have this mapped. It is mapped by default.

I know, but again, we have all other comments in Vault comment property, not file comment property.

I know what are you trying to suggest, but the informatio goes like this:

Version 1 - Check-in comment: This is original shape.

Version 2 - Check-in comment: Holes added.

Version 3 - Forgots check-in comment and it should be: Added fillets.

Now user has 2 choices, either change physical file to be able to add a comment OR do as you suggested, but then other user magically has to know to watch "file comment" and can miss this.
