Make life easy- start with Vault

Make life easy- start with Vault

To all dedicated IT men of Vault

We have an verb - make life easy - I hope this will also apply to Vault in the near future .

Several ideas;

- 1. Search a document is always depending on the place, where you are in the Project Explorer, this is very disturbing.

Often you need to redirect the cursor to the root of the -Project Browser-

Give always a result from the root of the -Project Browser-

When I am seaching in -ITEM- , it result is always 100%.

-2. -Check In- option sometimes give an error, that -several files are  wrong - and needed to be updated

Please give me the names of these files. This is very very unfriendly error.

-3 In general the vault -error- handling is very poor. We need a more details, what file is corrupt or wrong.

Sometimes an help on the error will give the users direct help. Instead of searching of needle in a stack of hay

-4- In large assemblies its is difficult to find a part, please make an search  tool to search in assy (Attached file)

     Highlight the direct find.

-5- Delecte local copy with options (Delete parents or children on working space and get all file directly from Vault)

Sometimes the files on your working space are not valid. Make an option to delete these files (parents and chlidren) an replace them directly with the actual files from Vault.

Thx,

Toine

Toine,

It would be best to separate your 5 ideas into separate posts so that the community may vote and comment on them. (I would vote for 4 but maybe not the others)

  1. I understand your concern, however many people have search methods based on sub-folders only. I'm not saying it's correct but this is consistent search behavior with Windows Explorer.
    - All ITEMs are searched because there are no folders.
    - I think a practical solution would be to allow the user to pick "all folders" from the search options on the right.

I agreee with 2 and 3 but they sound like the same request. A specific scenario would help Autodesk write better errors.

4. I would love this as well. I would also like to search parent files (Where Used).

5. Look into the Workspace Sync and run it frequently!

I hope that helps.
