Lease times on generated DWFs

Lease times on generated DWFs

Often times in paperless production environments DWFs get used as the defacto standard for release documentation. This can create issues where the DWF file in question may have been superseded by new data, but the DWF owner was not notified.

If a timed leasing approach could be implemented, then the Vault admin could specify that all DWFs that come out of the Vault (via the web browser, for example) have an expiration date that must be checked against the clock of the device being used to view the file. If the file is expired, a mechanism would then be triggered to alert the user of the expired status (i.g. pop-up warning, watermark, etc.). Additionally, all features could be disabled (e.g. printing, measurements, markup, etc.).

Thanks for adding your idea. Unfortunately, this would also require a change with Autodesk Design Review which is no longer being updated.

That's unfortunate since the cloud viewer is a non-starter for ITAR and similar folks.
