Folder Focus changes to destination folder During Move Operation

When moving files, focus shifts to the destination folder. I would like this to work more similar to the way Windows explorer works. This also applies when RMB dragging to create links in destination folders.

A lot of time is lost by users having to continually browse back to the previous location and performing a search to get back to whatever results they were previously displaying.

When moving a file(s) to another folder. Don't change the view to the destination folder!!!!! I want to keep viewing the files in the folder that I was working in. Windows Explorer does NOT behave in that manner for a reason. (Reason... people would be angry)

Just curious on this statement.

We have a Move Back Button for this purpose. Was it not useful here?

There is a blue arrow up in the menu to move back...

It helps, but it is only half a solution. If I am working from search results, I have to rerun the search.

I am probably working with a 100:1 ratio of wanting to be in the destination folder vs. The source folder when I move files or create shortcuts in Vault.

Thanks Cory for the reply and information. We will see how to move forward with this request. Thanks again.

It would be nice if in Vault when moving files you were not taken to the folder in which the files are being moved to but instead could stay on the screen you are moving from. This would be especially helpful in searches. Also it would be nice if you could move multiple files from different paths at the same time.

you could use powershell to move the folders using documentservice.movefolder command

I just received an email that you were archiving this idea Senthil. Does that mean it is no longer under review? And, as a result will not be implemented?

@limin.chung this change would personally save me quite a bit of time in a week. It would be good for this to make it into a release soon. An option to run on or off would be best.

Has this been resolved? I would like to move files and stay in the same folder I moved the files from. Right now I have a "Staging Folder" in order to sort files and it takes a lot of time to go back to the original folder I'm moving files from.

please implement this ASAP!! why is this even a thing?  Since when do you want to flop to the destination folder...I'm not done, I'm still searching...I'm still moving... Get this one implemented in a hot fix ASAP!  I've spent hours moving files, mostly going back and RE-searching!!

When I move a file in Vault, the program will open the destination folder. I would like to have the program keep me this the source folder. I can other requests for the same feature, please update this soon.

Yup, this needs to happen.

Also agree best to have a toggle in the options menu.

For example:

File/Folder move, Go to destination folder.

This should be turned off by default.
