Drag and Drop configuration

we wish the possibility, to deactivate drag&drop for all files! Or to configure drag&drop in a Menu,Dialog or in a xml.File.

Hello, would it help if you could set a dialog before moving a file? Because that is something you can do without any changes in Vault. We experienced problems with some harsh users who frequently moved files by mistake and noone could find them :-). So I turned on dialog "Are you sure you want to move files?" and now is everything fine.

See attached file - but sorry for my czech localization. I hope it is pretty straightforward tho.

Unfortunately this is settings on a client. I am not sure if you can force this settings on the server. I am affraid not.

Are you talking about moving files from one folder to another folder?

Thank you very much, but we need a function to stop moving files from Desktop, explorer or e-mail attachments into the Vault.

Although I stated Data Standard, this could be raw function for the Vault as well.

Hi @cad,

are you using Vault Professional or Vault Workgroup with Vault Data Standard (VDS)?

If yes, you can modify the "MenuDefinitions.xml" (To find in file in: %programdata%\Autodesk\Vault (VersionOfVault)\Extensions\DataStandard\Vault\MenuDefinitions.xml) and add "addfiles" to the list, on the "<SuppressMenuItems>" area.

You should be able to find it nearly on end of the file.

Inside of the Menudefinitions.xml file, there is are instructions, how to suppress functions for the UI.

I believe this option was added in the Vault 2023 version. Now you can restrict drag and drop for any file extension you want to.
