Data Standard - Inventor - Create In-Place Component - Command

When adding/placing a new part into an assembly Data Standard is not showing up. We first have to create the part with a manual filename and location. When later hitting the save command in the assembly context, the Data Standard dialog pops up and wants to save the file.  The initial filename and location is then overwritten by Data Standard.

Our user get confused by this behaviour ---> When Data-Standard is active, the Inventor Dialog should not ask for filenames and/or location to save a file as it will be a useless user-input.

Add a command "Insert/place New File" or "Insert/Place New Document" to the DataStandard Ribbon, when working in an assembly context.

Hi @KelvionLicenseManagement

How is this any different than the Place options in the Assemble ribbon? What problem are you trying to solve with this idea?

Hello Irvin,

thanks for your reply.

Placing an existing document is fine.

But when you create a "new" document (in an assembly), Inventor asks for the new component name and the new file location.

When working with DataStandard you don't have to fill in those values, because Data Standard will do this again on the before-save event.

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, Data Standard would not be able to handle the other questions that Inventor Dialog handles. For example, setting the BOM structure or if it is a virtual component.
