Centralized management of all configuration data

Centralized management of all configuration data

It would be nice to manage things like saved searches, grid settings and plug-ins through the Vault Settings window instead of copying files to each Vault user's computer.

Project Thunderdome is a good start, but I would like to go beyond Thunderdome.  It would be better if the app were easier to use and built into Vault.

Hello,

Could you please add in the configuration file of Project Thunderdome, a section to define more files to store in the Deployment.td file.

By exemple in order to add:

- CoolOrange PowerGate configuration files

- Custom add-in configuration

etc...

Thanks in advance

Much like the 'Enforce Working Folder Location', it would be great to also have an option to enforce the following:

  • Visualization File Creation thru Job Server
  • Show Hidden Files
  • Open File Behavior

Searches are currently stored by user.  An option to provide common, beneficial searches (can be generic ones like "my checked out files") to all users would be useful in my opinion.  Obviously, future version.

Why don´t administrators can change the default rule set to company  settings?

Why do we have an default rule set which is senseless for us?

Admin has now to create a company rule set and is reponsible to share this to all users.

Pls change this settings or tell us (admins) how to change the default rule set.

Thx.

Hallo Vault-team,

Client user definitions like shortcuts, views, styles, etc. should not be stored in the local user profile of Windows. It should be safed at the Vault Sever (ADMS) or SQL, so that each user gets his own definitions on every machine he is logged in!

Such a implementation would also improve and simplify the possibilities for Vault administrators and internal customer administrators.

An adminstrator would also be able to define a template for views etc. and could share this templates to other users. This way should replace the workflow with "Project Thunderdome"!

Thanks

It would be nice if there was a way to export your customization options in vault and import them on another computer or account. Switching computers and having to setup all fields, searches, shortcuts so on, can be tedious. this could be used by corporations to quickly setup multiple computers or user accounts without having to manually do it for each instance. I know you can copy searches but as an overall export/import or all these customization setting would be nice.

Just tried this (copied the file to another location, made changes in vault to my fields, closed vault, opened to verify changes, closed replaced the file in the path provided with the copied file from before, opened vault) and my changes were still there  so it doesn't allow for a simple replace in order to reset users preferences

I've found ways to capture various settings for individual users and get them from one PC to another, however it is tedious to have to dig around and move these things each time.  Rather than store some of the settings in the .config and others in XML files in different folders, I'd like to see user preferences in one spot and be able to capture just one thing that gives me the user's settings.  OR simply build a default file for settings that can be either populated to a settings folder or restored to a user's profile to give them the same "corporate" settings.

There are a lot of similar posts on the topic of expanding admin settings on the deployment of Vault software.  OK to group this one with one of those...

I would like to be able to configure default column settings, saved searches, and other options as defaults to every client installation.  I'm ok with the users modifying some of these settings, but for those that don't, I would like to be able to have a base configuration of these settings.

There have been numerous occasions where I go to a user's desk to help them with something and they still have the default columns displayed - which doesn't give them much info in our database.  They have obviously ignored my emailed instructions on how to configure these settings, so I'd like to enforce them instead.

Bonjour,

Cordialement

Server views of the workspace
Hello,

Vault views are like Windows views specific to each user. We want to have common views for all users who actually depend on the category of the folder. We have programmed this internally for the moment but the deployment is long and it is not immediate effect for all users. It would be nice if it was a native Vault option, it would be a plus over Windows and better than most of the cloud GED solutions I could see.

In addition to pre-populating the log-in dialog with server name and Vault name, the ability to choose Windows Authentication, and tick the "Automatically log-in" option. That way, when the Vault image is deployed to a new machine, as soon as the user runs Vault for the first time, the server details are pre-populated, and as long as they are using Windows Authentication, then Vault automatically logs in.

The same behavior should also follow for the CAD add-ins.

I also recommend:

Client user definitions like shortcuts, views, styles, etc. should not be stored in the local user profile of Windows. It should be safed at the Vault Sever (ADMS) or SQL, so that each user gets his own definitions on every machine he is logged in!

In this way an additional functionality would be that each user could show the saved searches of another user he is interested in.

When setting up a company standard for the Vault Explorer interface, it is helpful if you could export all the settings made using a function and transfer them to other clients by importing them.

We are specifically interested in the hidden user-specific properties in the "Properties" window.

@Anonymous have you tried Project Thunderdome?

Yes, I tested Project Thunderdome, but the hidden properties in the Properties window were not passed to the other clients.
