As I have just replied in a direct email for the escalated support case, on your question if Vault Server can be installed on Linux:

The answer is No - it requires a Windows Operating System, as shown in the system requirements:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/vault-products/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/S...

I do know that there are Windows "Simulators" running under Linux, but it will not be considered a supported platform.

This means if any issue was detected, you would need to reproduce the issue on a supported Windows Environment, making the exercise a little redundant.

I hope this answers your question.
If not - please do let us know.

Are there any plans to have Vault Server be able to run on linux in the future?

It would be extremely useful.

probably not since Vault requires Microsoft SQL which only runs on Windows

That's not good, the future of servers lies with Linux.
And I also hope that this future will also come for client computers.
