Item history should show history for all revisions

The history tab on an item should show history for all revisions, not just the revision you have selected. 
To view the history of a previous revision, you currently need to find the item using search, or use the genealogy tab to find the revision then view the history tab. 
Ideally, the history of all previous revisions would be viewable from the latest revision and could be filtered by revision.

It would be useful if one could see, either directly in the web interface or via a generated report, a history across all revisions. E.g. if one is trying to find when a certain change was introduced, it is much easier to do this by reviewing a single change-log report or page than having to open and review each revision of the part drawing or items history field.

We've abandoned Upchain due to lots of bugs and the bugs not being addressed in a timely fashion.

Strongly agree with this idea. The Upchain history logs are poorly implemented.   History doesn't show Change Description comments 

I'd also note that Document-Item History behaves a bit differently than BOM-Item History. They should be the same and show version comments, and changes to the items.

Currently BOM-Item Downloads show as a row in history - that is overkill, nothing was done to the item or file.

A new improvement was rolled out on January 16th (Release notes), where you are able to get aggregated Item History. Additionally for users to access the whole list for larger Item history, you now have export capability where you will be able to see all inputs and use Excel capability to filter by users, dates, actions, minor or major revisions, Item versions, or statuses.

That's great History has been improved, sounds better! But what about Checkin comments? Where can we read them?The computery log text helps in some cases. But I'm more interested in what the designer said changed. 

If we have 20 users getting the latest version - the History list will be mostly Download entries, which is just noise at most companies that aren't doing a forensic investigation. So that's an unfortunate inclusion. I suggest auto filtering it out on the visible list (and maybe including it in the CSV export).

If I understood you correctly you would like to read design changes, CAD comments, from the BOM wizard in Item History as well, right?

This step during check-in records a comment: "Type a change description into the Comment field. "

What's the point if we can't see a list/table with those comments later?  They are helpful to go back to old versions. Helpful to know the issues (maybe unfinished work), or changes. 

Showing this is a fundamental function of PDM/PLM history views. 

Will try to start the idea, but I'm surprised I even need to mention it.

We started using Upchain for exact those kind of features that I see mendatory for any PDM system, to quickly understand what was done at what point of time and find old versions of items. Having no check-in or release-comments in the history makes the whole history completely useless in my view.

would be nice, to have the option to add additional information in that window.
