Investigation Request creating a change request for released items

Investigation Request creating a change request for released items

If an investigation request is created from a released item and a change is needed an engineer is expected to check out the item make the required change and check in the item. This puts the item in a development state. The engineer then wants to utilize the investigation request to create a change request and release the latest change made to the item. However, Upchain adds the older released version of the item to the change request not the latest version of the item in development. My request is to have Upchain add the latest version of items to a change request that has been created from an investigation request. Currently, this functionality only works with an item that started the investigation request in a development state. This idea is being added from support case 20353644.

Hi @cdentonJA2P2 ,

does your organisation use multiple item versions in development belonging to same item number, at a same time? E.g. from released item you create new item version 001 in development, then again from same released item version someone else creates new item version, now 002 and you have 2 item versions in development in the system at then same time. Which item version would then be chosen for the IR and after for CR?

Best regards,

We are not using multiple item versions in the above example. The request was to perform the IR on the released version of the item. If a change is needed then perform the change on the IR and release the change using a spawned CR. However, when you spawn the change request the original released version is added not the new 001 version that is in development.
