Currently if I have to exclude an item from BOM, I have to go the web BOM, remove the item from there then come back to the CAD add in, run BOM anomalies and only then can I exclude it from BOM. Ideally, If I have marked an item as exclude from BOM in my CAD properties, Upchain should read that and automatically exclude from BOM. Other option would be in the cBOM/eBOM window of Upchain add in, we should be able to mark items as excluded from BOM This is for Solidworks.   -Pranit Show More

This piggy-backs a bit off of another suggestion on the board; however, it would be awesome to have a notification for when a plugin (specifically the CAD connector) is out-of-date compared to the web-app.   Since we were new to the platform, it was unknown to us how to compare plugin versions to the web-app.  Having a notification within the plugin would be a great way for users to make sure they have the most up-to-date plugin to prevent bugs. I am being told by support, (CaseNo:18648358) that derived parts are not supported.  If I have a derived assembly or a derived part and click on the refresh button in Upchain, it only brings in the top level ipt, but does not bring in the assembly or part that it was derived from.  I am a little surprised by this as derived parts have been a part of Inventor from the beginning of when I started using it which was way back in Inventor 5.3.  That was 20 years ago.  I need someone to first off tell me if these will be supported, and if so approximately how long it will be for that to happen. Currently the CBOM tree view in the CAD connector shows as a fully expanded tree, where every instance of a part and assembly is listed. In practical terms, this make working with even a small assembly quite a challenge. (For reference we use the SolidWorks Cad Connector, but I assume the issue is the same for all CAD programs) This issue doesn't only make the CBOM hard to use and navigate, it also causes issues with any CBOM option which require you to navigate multiple items/parts such as: -Check out from CBOM -> a whole assembly cannot be checked selected to check out. Each sub assy or part, needs to be selected individually. - Copy clone (or copy replace) in any assembly of more than a few parts. Same issue as above. (I've found this functionality to be close to useless on any sized assembly due to this issue. If I want to clone an assembly I have been forced to do this in native CAD. This works but will not maintain the genealogy of the parts)    Show More

CAD plugin to recognize 'Not registered' files if they are already in the system Show More

Currently users can open one item at a time from the locked objects tab in plugin. It is beneficial in some cases to be able to open multiple items from the locked objects tab. If user have 5 items to be opened, user have to repeatedly go to my locked objects tab to open those 5 items. If they have this option (ctrl+left click or similar) they can select all 5 items and click open, which reduces the no of mouse clicks and time users take to navigate back to locked objects.  Show More

Currently if user tries to check-in an item with suppressed/speedpacked items that are also checked out by user, user gets a message "cannot check-in because there are files that are suppressed and checked out". We request that the mechanism should be changed to allow check in rest of the assembly but keep the suppressed/speedpacked items remain checked out and the user notified that the children item that are suppress/speedpacked will not be checked in. 1. Make the Default Item Types configurable by the Tenant Administrators rather than only by a Super Admin. 2. Allow the Default Item Types to be renamed. (I was told this would break the system) 3. Allow the Default Item Types to be deactivated or hidden. 4. Allow Custom Item Types to be configurable by the Tenant Administrators rather than only by a Super Admin. 5. Allow for Re-organization of Item Type list to change the order seen in the drop down in BOTH web interface and CAD plugins. Right now there is no way to create an Upchain attribute code for a custom attribute. I would like to be able to create a code so that custom attributes can appear on drawings. Also, there is no attribute code for "Item Description". I would like to have a code for that attribute to add to drawings. Show More

Currently if I search for a part number via the CAD addin's search icon, it returns all revisions of that part but in a random order. For something with multiple revisions this makes it confusing to pick up the latest revision especially when items have minor revisions as well. It also makes it difficult to identify the item version in development as that is jumbled as well. The search should return the results such that the latest version of the item (dev or released) is at the top adn descending order after that.          Show More

When files on local disk are not the latest, upon cBOM refresh Upchain gives a prompt to fix the validation errors. When clicked yes, follow up pop up notifying user that assembly will be closed and reopened is displayed.    Please make this prompt to stay on top of Solidworks always. As of now when this pop is displayed, if I click anywhere in Solidworks window, the pop up gets pushed into background.  Show More

The BOM wizard, when it opens, is not wide enough to show all columns. Users would have to expand the BOM Wizard window every time to see all of the information. I understand that this can’t be considered a bug. But I believe that users would get frustrated quickly if they have to change Column widths every time that the Bom Wizard opens, just to view the information that they are looking for. Remember that they are used to the old BOM Wizard and that would be the benchmark. I'm attaching image of what the original BOM wizard columns looked like. It has the cbom and ebom qty shown clearly. If the user wants to see the Item name, they could just expand the column as required.    For the new BOM Wizard, if you could set the ebom and cbom qtys (along with Item Name, filename and status) to auto-fit width by default,  that would be acceptable. Ask: The eBOM Attributes Editor in the plugin should be enhanced to support bulk edits/changes across all categories.   This feature would not only reduce the number of clicks, thereby saving time, but also minimize the potential for human error during repetitive individual updates.  The ability to make bulk changes is a common feature in many software applications and its addition to the eBOM Attributes Editor would bring it in line with user expectations. Ask: At present, loading an assembly of 3000 components in the plugin’s eBOM Attributes Editor takes approximately 20 seconds. While this speed isn’t poor, there is room for improvement. It would be beneficial to enhance the loading speed to match that of the web application. Show More
