Wind load generation

Hi All,

Its been a while...

I was wondering whether robot 2015 wind generation module is can perform second order effects. To be more specific, for the design of a tall building could can it simulate vortex shedding for a given surface geometry?

Thanks

Kyp

Hi

I think that the answer is "yes", but I want to suggest you to make a comparison with more accurate and CFD pure software, as for example autodesk flow design or, much much better, autodesk cfd simulation.

Thanks Stefano,

I specifically want to determine the effects aerodynamic effect on a tall building. Can you please recommend them most apporpriate softare for this? Do the ones you mention below provide enough information of design? i.e : loads and pressures, vortes shedding frequencies, downwash wind speeds etc..

I just want to be sure I am looking into the right package.

to the right package.

your response is greatly appreciated.

regards

Kyp

Hi,

you can learn more here: http://www.autodesk.com/products/cfd/overview , keep in mind that this software is linked with robot (loads definition) using this tool cfd_link.jpg

Simulation cfd is used also in Formula One aerodynamic problems, so I think that for AEC industry is absolutely a top class software.

If you want see some videos about this you can go here: http://simhub.autodesk.com/

Also, you can learn more about Robot 3d wind simulation here: http://bimandbeam.typepad.com/bim_beam/2014/08/wind-load-simulation-in-autodesk-robot-structural-ana...

Hope I help you, cheers

Hello, please need help for our study.

How do you interpret these generated wind cases? What is the meaning of the L/R, Front Rear? is it the wind direction?
