Hi my friends,

To save RSA and to inform Autodesk that we really love RSA and its the best software ever and you need to keep developing it and improve it more and more.

I am trying to raise our voice and send it to the highest person on Autodesk to let them understand that they have to focus on RSA not to cancel it.

There fore I am trying to collect the voices from our lovely forum. If you are interested in this issue Please send me your feedback and

your contact details to my personal mail (mustafahesenow@gmail.com).

Name , work , your name on RSA forum, and personal mail, and your phone number.

Many thanks for your collaboration.

We love RSA and we will do our best to save it.

Hi all,

Revit and Robot is a bad idea since many companies including ours don't use Revit and never will do. We use strictly Tekla for modeling since it's superior for steel and concrete and also because the companies we work for use it. So, that ain't going to change.

FWIW, our company is considering abandoning Robot due to the poor development recently, but we still have a few licenses. If I'm not mistaken, we're using more and more FEM-Design instead.

Regards,

Johannes

Hi @Anonymous

This is the problem . IF Autodesk will keep ignoring our RSA in 2 years there wont be any structural engineer working with Autodesk product..

I just want to mention in this popular topic "Save our RSA" that not many people pay attention to Robot Structural IDEAS. Maybe votes of Robot users may show the way how to develop or improve the software, as it works for Revit and Advance Steel. Robot Structural Analysis page looks pour. There are the too small amount of "Votes". I think Robot users have to vote on the link. https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/robot-structural-analysis-ideas/idb-p/93/tab/most-recent

The RSA is the coolest program at Autodesk, I do not understand what considerations led to the decision of Autodesk leaders to destroy the best product that they have. I have been designing buildings for more than 10 years. I'm used to using the best software products in my projects, and therefore I use only the RSA from AutoDesk products. I'm very sorry that those people who decide to AutoDesk, do not realize that they will lose .... Smiley Sad

There will be a Robot 2019 but " What's new on RSA 2019" is a big mistery , as always.

Hello, guys. I see huge activity on the topic which was created by mustafahesenow. I don't understand why so few "Votes Up" for Robot Structural ideas on Autodesk official site. I suppose Robot users don't aware of this page. Please find the link. There are only 18 pages. One of that ideas is mine. Thank you. https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/robot-structural-analysis-ideas/quot-reinforcment-calculator-quot-add...

It should be very useful to know how many of these "ideas" have actually turned into reality and added to past RSA releases.

Does anybody have this number??

Autodesk??

I found many of that ideas implemented. I do not know why Autodesk do not mark those ideas as implemented such as Revit ideas.

I believe that Robot for another 2-4 years will be with us with untouched look and feel. It will not introduce too much of new capabilities as all the resources from Autodesk will most likely be focused on deploying engine of Robot into massive Quantum Project. React Structures was only first step. Autodesk has already showed their path and this is not a path where there are separated programs like Robot, Advance Steel or even Revit. The future of BIM is not to have BIM in the way as we see it – meaning co-operation between different programs.  The future is to have one service which can be extended by adding new capabilities. You wish to have steel fabrication – here it is, just check the box and pay for next month, do your job in interface for steel detailing. You wish to have structural design – mark another box and do you design in another interface. Buy a service, not the product. We already see it when Robot can be bought only as part of large collection of products. Autodesk has showed us how it works already – you buy bunch of different programs, but soon we will be buying bunch of services. This is already in the way how subscription works in Autodesk. This is very long way for Autodesk, but they are focused on this.  It may be huge success as they will be first in these shoes. But being first has also big risks. They cannot do that within one day or by introducing brand new interface. This must take some years so people like us will get up to speed with new engine. I doubt that Robot will be on sell as one program – this is not in line with Quantum methodology.

You remember when Microsoft introduced Ribbon in Office 2007? That was 10 years ago and most of the people were moaning how hard it is to use it. And then they had no choice but to switch their perspective and simply use it. Ribbon is great, but it was kind of revolution back then.  And guess what – it is now identical in web based engine and interface. I guess that this is what will happen in near future with Robot. The good part is that it will be very, very innovative. It will blend in Autodesk philosophy, but it will be hard for guys like me with decade of Robot experience to switch to. I hope that we are in the middle of this switch. We did not see anything new in Robot 2018 and there were not too much new things in previous versions. However there was React Structures which most likely did not disappeared in wardrobe, but it is rather in preparation for big cloud based service. Whether we like it or not, Autodesk wants to be first in those shoes.  It takes years for company like Autodesk to plan such massive thing as project Quantum and in the meantime they need to keep clients happy. They are not always good in this second part, but hope it will take some profits in future.

I do not use BIM a lot, and I am still considering if I should wait so long for Robot to see the switch to new engine for cost of lack of demanded futures. However if Robot (or actually Quantum) becomes a service with good API, the competitors may be far behind.

Have a look at this: https://www.aecmag.com/59-features/1241-autodesk-project-quantum-revit-bim
