Hi my friends,

To save RSA and to inform Autodesk that we really love RSA and its the best software ever and you need to keep developing it and improve it more and more.

I am trying to raise our voice and send it to the highest person on Autodesk to let them understand that they have to focus on RSA not to cancel it.

There fore I am trying to collect the voices from our lovely forum. If you are interested in this issue Please send me your feedback and

your contact details to my personal mail (mustafahesenow@gmail.com).

Name , work , your name on RSA forum, and personal mail, and your phone number.

Many thanks for your collaboration.

We love RSA and we will do our best to save it.

Hi @teixeiranh and guys ,

I ´ve just been surfing the autodesk Revit structure site and of course most of the tools ,if not all , to integrate Revit with Robot were done by the RSA development guys we know so well, wonderfully represented here in this forum mainly by Artur , Rafal and Pawel .

I never get tired of saying that RSA support is by far the best I have ever seen for any kind of software available and also for any kind of anything else!!!Kudos to them!!

Back to Revit , I learned it (Revit structure) some 3 years ago and as a test, I modelled the Rio 2016 olympics Golf facilities (small building) . Not a regular boxed buiding ,but also not so complicated. Then I sent it to Robot . I was a complete mess!!! If I was not a RSA user for many years ,it would be impossible to fix what has been transfered from Revit to Robot. And I am pretty sure it would have been a lot faster to build the model from scratch on Robot.

I said all that to enphazize that , if the structural analysis is to be carried using the Revit-Robot link , Robot cannot be a "supporting role actor " on Revit structure "play" ,.

If that´s the case (using Revit-Robot link), 1st of everything , Autodesk should insistently stress that The Revit structure modeller/user should be a very skilled structural enginneer with considerable practice in RSA!!!!!

But of course this is not very good to say when you want/need to sell software.

What I read on Autodesk site is that any Revit user can easily use Robot to perform all kind of analysis after sending the model from Revit.

Revit-Robot link.jpg

"Users of Revit" , not even users of Revit structure!!!!

That´s why ,sometimes we see architects here at the forum asking the dumbest questions thinking that a single good answer will make them magically run a trustable structure analysis!!!

Bad news for autodesk and all those users!!!

It´s not that simple . Even if RSA was the perfect Structural analysis program , if that exists , it will still mandantorily need someone who is a skilled Structural engineer and that has some practice with the program!!!!

Not stressing this to potential Revit users is ,1st of all, a great disrespect with all Structural engineers professionals and can be very dangerous for those users that think/believe Revit can "do magic".

All that said , this is to reinforce that not Revit , but Robot is the real main actor of this "structural Play" . If RSA doesn´t get better year after year with new good and important features (like it was on past) , no matter how we love RSA as it is today ,it will be gradually abandoned , losing market to other not so good analysis packages .

So please , listen to us!!!!!!

I totally agree with you Rafa. I've only been using RSA for a few months and I can honestly say it made me a better engineer (as opposed to what my old lecturer said that it would make me worse Smiley LOL ) and proper knowledge and use of it is not only better for the engineer but society as a whole. I don't think they are looking at the grand scheme of things.

Hi @Rafacascudo

You absolutely correct. I will share here my experience with Revit .

1-As you know the start of workflow with design started from Architects they had created Revit model then as structural we get this model and we started to work on it as well.

2-As Structural Detailing Revit was very terrible for us especially when we have Slab reinforcement plans, and beam schedule and Column core wall /walls Reinforcement.

3- For Framing plans and general arrangement plans they were okay but the problem was in exported DwG files regarding pen assignment and line weights

and cared dimension lines.

4-For Analytical model and to send it to RSA. it was Disaster When Revit model exported to RSA

You will get alot of segmented wall and the accuracy is not much good  and this will cause later a lot of incoherent meshes and for complex model I swear to god you cant control it  .

So I decide for structural model to do it from zero in RSA .

I used to care about all details of my model to think about each portion like i am executing it by this way you will get perfect model with zero error in times with revit you will get million error.

My point here is The good structural engineer doesn't leave  his  model  to be created by others who are they not aware about structure analysis or even sometimes draft men who do the Revit model. Its un trusted.

I attach to on of the most complex model i had modeled before .

Hi @teixeiranh (my brother )

All what you said is correct 100 % the problem is Autodesk should have responsibility and to admit that what they are thinking about cant be done.

They have to develop RSA after all of these year leaving it with out care they are telling us we want to stop it.

But believe me my brother this is wont happen and we will do our best to change this strategy.

Awaiting for your subscribers to support us in this thread and to send me their detail as well.

Let our voice become a shout to make Autodesk wake up.

My opinion of sending the file from Revit to Robot is very similar to what most of you guys have said. I work for a small firm and I use both Revit and RSA quite extensively. I've used the Revit to RSA transfer and back and ultimately it screws up everything (either the Revit model or the RSA model). After learning from that mistake, what I have now done is create a Revit Analytical model which contains ONLY columns and grids. Everything else gets modelled in RSA manually. Once that is done, both files remain independent throughout the project cycle so that neither one of them gets screwed up. Once I make any member changes in RSA, I do the same thing again in Revit (both done manually).

I stand with you Mustafa.

I do not consider myself to be a highly pro. user of RSAP,  but i have a solid background, and i do not use any other structural analysis/design software other than RSAP.

Hope it never gets cancelled unless we get an alternative software such as the like of React.

Shutting RSAP down would be a slap in the face to every one trying to get to know and approve RSAP right now around the world.

HI Mustafa and all RSA's lovers!!!

After so many reactions about this subject, I wish to see some feedback, or at least a post, from Autodesk.

We know that Artur, Pawel, and Rafal are always here to help us,

and they know better than anyone in Autodesk the capacities, possibilities, and what is necessary to keep developing this fantastic software. And I am sure

that they are not surprised with this reaction!

In other words, I am expecting some "words" from the top guys of Autodesk... or they will let us move to another structural solution as Bentley, CSI, Graitec...

I'm joining my voice to you.

We all love Robot.

For me it's 3 years since i started using this marvelous program.

Really i use RSA every single day. I think my day would be incomplete if i didn't practice one or more samples in it every day.

I totally support you. we need to keep RSA on top of the Structural softwares.

God bless you. God bless RSA.

Really Autodesk have to pay more attention to our voices and keep on developing this program.

hi @mustafahesenow,

I'm joining my voice to you.

Since 2011 I teach RSAP for begginers and future structural engineers.  The possibilites of modeling and analysis for learn and tech are infinites.

This year I was invited to moderate the portuguese RSAP forum.  There are a lot of commitment of myself, @gustavo_c_vasconcellos@Rafacascudo and @marco_brasiel to make it happen.  I really frustrated with this topic but I won`t give up.

I send you my contact details to yours personal mail.

Mustafa,

I think, well, if they want to get rid off Robot, lets buy it. Based on the gentlemen agreement we, users, shall raise found and become say-stake holders. I bet there is enough of us to raise enough money to buy it and employ a small team for maintenance and further development.

BTW. Can someone confirm if React will substitute Robot?

I'm just wondering to which point we should wait and pay a subscription for a program that does not develop further.
Be patient if nothing happens even after RSA 2019 !!!!
Without further development we will all have to look for other tools as the regulations require more and more .....

Hi @Anonymous

We are paying Autodesk subscription fee for almost 9 years for RSA with very minor development.

Every year we wish that this year will be different but again it comes with nothing.
