It is really surprising knowing that Autodesk is going to let Robot.
Here in Portugal, at least in the north part of the country, every structural engineer uses Robot. Nobody uses SAP, or etabs, or staabs, or risa or whatever.
I have spent a big deal of time working with it. Every structure that I designed or helped design was designed with Robot.
I did, has some of you might know, a series of videos explaining how to use this beautiful piece of software.
Reading that Autodesk is going to let go is like watching all those hours spent on Camtasia go as well. It is heartbreaking for me.
I must say that the strategy followed should be making Robot better. To have the best of all tools to work with Revit.
Think about it! A revit structure user wants to use the software that has the best linking capacities with it. The best one should be Robot! Is autodesk really leating Risa, or Sap or whatever take that place?
Or is it a market problem? Does the Robot user represents a "small market"? Take a look at my channel, I have almost 2500 subscribers.
I think that it is a really bad idea. A stupid one. You should upgrade Robot. Make it better. Steal the SAP users with the arguments "YES, it is the best one to link with REVIT" and "Yes, it has the greatest computation capabilities".
Don't be dumb. Behind every beautiful architectural project is a smart structural engineer.
And (please!!) be realistic. Revit is never going to be a structural analysis software. It is too slow and has buttons related with MEP. Who the f*** cares about MEP buttons or architecture commands when you area dealing with load paths? Come on!
