Merging of calculation nodes

Anonymous
Not applicable

 Hi all

  1. May I know if there is possibility to merge corner calculation nodes which are created due to using linear release along the common edge between slab and wall?

  1. What is the best an approach to reduce the high moment values at corner nodes of wall?

For reference dummy model is attached?

Any help will be appreciated

Hi @Anonymous,

Please check these threads:

Define "dummy" columns with a material with small E value at the corners so that the reduction over support option includes results form larger distances from the corners

Dear Roman

Thank you so much for your help.

Actually , I have already seen the first link through my searching in this forum that is why I asked my first question  because I would like to follow one of those approaches which were mentioned ( in Ukrainian website) suggested by Pawel pulak .

As I was understood from this site (of course using google translation):

First approach:

  1. Freeze the mesh.
  2. Define fake column at the wall corner (this column should be have the same wall size and its length equal to 5 cm).
  3. Move the second standard node of the fake column to the neighboring calculation node.

That is why I couldn’t do the third step because it seems to me there are two calculation nodes at corner ( please take a look to my dummy model in the first post).

Do you have any suggestion to rid this situation?

Second approach:

Concerning the second an approach that was mentioned in referred Ukrainian website.

When I followed the approach (create characteristic nodes) with the distance equal to fake column size) and delete the release inside the column area. So, when I did that I had got warning message (separate structure).

Also, I will be highly appreciate if you share a quick video or any idea to illustrate the right way to solve these issues?

Again, many thanks for your nice help.

Best regards

Hi @Anonymous

Select all nodes on the model then go to edit menu then correct option.

Then

Un check Entire structure and Geometrical center and put the precision 0.0001m .

then click apply all duplicated node will be merged .

Hi @ mustafahesenow

Thank you for your suggestion.

I think what you referred to is belongs only to (standard nodes). Not applicable for (calculation nodes).
